I shouldn’t be buying anything right now, I have enough financial challenges, but... well....

I posted a thread on here a while ago about my Telechron clock collection. The pride and joy of my clocks was the first picture below; I just absolutely love it. General Electric gave one of these clocks as a free extra when you purchased a refrigirator; these are called “Monitor Tops.” Now, they only did this for four years, 1928, 29, 30 and 31. My clock is from 1930.

Doing some research, I discovered the 1928 and 29 clocks are somewhat more rare, and slight different. I had to have one.

The differences are subtle, a second hand was added in 1930 and the number of rings on the top was reduces from 16 to 14, the hands are also slightly changed. I have been searching for about two years, but they are hard to find and most times demand a ridiculously high price. A few weeks ago, I saw one in an on-line auction. I put in for the minimum bid, which was actually quite reasonable.

I WON!!!!

For some unexplainable reason no one else bid! I couldn’t believe it!

I just returned home today and the clock was waiting for me. I checked it over, it is not perfect, but has kept perfect time all day and I LOVE the way it looks. My kitchen display is pretty much complete now....

I remember one Telechron my parents had in the basement ham shack. Fond memories of ozonated air as tubes in the final amp warmed up the room.

very cool, my mother in law has the clock first pictured sitting on her shelf (we found it in a barn), we had no idea it was that old or could be worth anything.
