Arrested while wearing a Rolex
Hello forum
I want to begin by explaining that I am not anticipating arrest or anything like that, I'm just curious lol So, suppose you get pulled over, and arrested while wearing your watch What happens then? : First, I think the handcuffs might bang up the watch. Second, I don't think you can walk around jail wearing a Rolex (I wouldn't know). Third, what happens to your watch while you are locked away? This may be a very naive question, I don't know. But I looked it up and it doesn't look like somebody has asked this before. |

I’m really really glad I don’t know the answer to any of these questions!

Well, once you were taken to the police station and formally booked, your personal possessions would likely be removed and inventoried. You’d get them back once you posted bail or were otherwise released. You’d likely get some scuffs from the cuffs while in the back of the cruiser, but that would be pretty bad a$$ed.

And the next question, Can I use my Rolex to post bond? I doubt it.

The watch will probably get scratched, but that's the least of your worries at that point. When they process you, they will take all of your personal items and catalog them. You will get them back when you are processed out.
The Rolex will do you no good in the big house. Unless you die James Gandolfini style, no one will steal your watch. |

You will generally be required to remove all jewelry before being placed in a cell. Then you will be given an inventory form to sign, listing what was taken from you. Upon your release, your property will be returned to you.

I guess we ran out of all the “what if” questions on the forum and now we are hypothesizing arrests!!!

This forum has provoked various thoughts from me. I saw a thread about airport security asking you to remove your watch. Then I saw one where somebody accused a forum member of stealing a watch at a gym... Things like that get me thinking. So here I am asking questions |

I dont know the answer but there is a possibility that some cops will swap your rolex with a fake one and return back to you.

Is it safe to wear your Rolex while bending over for a bar of Soap in the Big House?

Many years ago I was a Sheriff’s Deputy doing bookings at the jail. On several occasions we processed individuals wearing Rolex watches, usually for DUI. On their property inventory, we would note “silver colored watch” or for the occasional yellow gold President...”yellow colored watch”.

I just take my watch off and put it in my pocket when I get arrested. Problem solved.
