Should i wear my new 116610LN SUB in the kitchen

Hello everyone I'm new here, Ive always loved Rolex I own a a bi metal Date-just on a jubilee bracelet but never wear it at work due to the fact that its a dress watch and that the gold would stretch.

I'm going to buy a new 116610LN Stainless steel SUB I want this to be my everyday work watch, being a chef in a busy kitchen it will be exposed to hot oil, grease, grime it will be submerged in hot dirty greasy oily water when washing dishes, it will be on my wrist when i'm cleaning the fryers, it will get knocked about.

Out of work it will be in the bath with me, in the shower in the sauna/steamroom, in the pool, in the ocean, in the Jacuzzi it will go everywhere i go.

I know the watch is tough and i know some people would call me mad for using it the way i want to, but the only way i feel i could enjoy such a beautiful watch is to have it on and never take it off.

would it last has anyone on this site ever used there sub to the extreme and never taken it off? i would love to see some pic if you have any.

Kind Regards

Chef Guy

That's how it should be worn!
Wear it for everything and don't think twice. You'll love it even more by doing so.
Check out some of the world's top chefs. Many of them can be seen sporting a high end watch in the kitchen - Rolex, Breitling, Cartier etc.

you don't wear the two tone watch because you're scared it will stretch?

what else do you do wrong?

I don't think you will have an issue but I would get a beater like a Seiko Turtle or G-Shock for the heavy activity in a commercial kitchen. At the end of my shift, I would put on the Submariner. I don't see it as not using my watch, I see it as wearing my watch for the task at hand.

The watch will most likely outlive yourself. Regardless of what you throw at it! So enjoy it and welcome!

In Alton Browns talking watches he comments on how the sub is so popular with chefs because it’s so robust. So I don’t think you’re alone in wearing one in the kitchen.

Amazing that his late Father’s watch is stolen from his room and he finds it on eBay years later. He never gave up looking for it. Incredible.

Yes, it's a very touching episode. The look on his face and the tone of his voice when he talks about it being the watch his Dad had on when he died chokes me up every time I watch it (and I've watched it several times now). Amazing to have a piece like that, and even more amazing to get it back 20 years after it was stolen.

steel sub, easy.

Those things use to go to war. These days you have sapphire and ceramic. Even tougher!

Good luck finding one in the uk though :)

Wear it like it was born on you. I do everything with mine. Gym, dishes, swimming, dishes moving boxes in the attic etc... They are meant to be enjoyed, and you cant enjoy it if it is left on your night table.

At first I though this thread was a joke? So I will post my initial response. Can I wear my Rolex in the living room?

Good news. That’s roughly 2 years in that case.

For all that you think to do with your watch there is none better than the Rolex Submariner 116610LN, which will also last years as your partner, that if you do not skip your services every 5 years because your active life could put your watch at risk if expire the seals.
