Sell my sub date for batman?
Hello all i hope you are well, i was just wondering, I've got a June 2017 116610LN sub date black, and at the time i was elated with my purchase as it was the one i always wanted.
half a year on and im so so bored of it! so plain and standard! but still obviously legendary and iconic. I am thinking of selling it to buy a BLNR gmt 2 batman, what i would like to know is who would keep and who would sell? Maybe some of you think i should keep it and buy a batman anyway if i can or maybe a different piece? LET ME KNOW, I NEED HELP!!! thanks all Daniel Watson |

If you’re a one watch guy. I suggest keeping the Sub. The BLNR is my #1 favourite watch and I’ve debated this same swap many times. But the BLNR without a sub just lacks versatility for me personally. I can’t justify it as an every day watch. It’s a bit too loud and blingy for an every day watch. The sub checks all boxes for any occasion and IMO is a staple. I plan on adding the BLNR for my 30th bday in 2019

The sub is iconic, also for me the GMT is iconic , i would have said keep it , & add the BLNR - lovely piece - , but if u are so bored of the sub , then sell it & get the BLNR ..

Ideally, after much consideration and flips i think 116610LV and 116710BLNR are complimenting one another nicely...this is not to say that 116610LN and 116710BLNR do not make a killer combo.
If only one it is a tough one. |

You can’t go wrong with a Sub and BLNR duo, I would add rather than sell.

But you should think about it wisely...if things go wrong we will read the same at the end of 2018 with a BLNR A short note at the end....I do not consider the BLNR as "loud". For me it is just the opposite, the black and blue colors are very "quiet". And depending on how the light hits the bezel it just looks dark but I admit that the bracelet is a little bit shiny |

If you're concerned about the BLNR being overly blingy you could always get the center links brushed.

I have both and they're different. Sooner or later, you'll get bored, regardless. So better to add and keep them both.

Obviously it’s your call and many here would agree with your idea.
I owned the BLNR and although it’s a great piece, ultimately I felt the same way about it as you do now about your Sub. |

I think the 116610LN is the best watch Rolex makes. Add another Rolex later when ready.

Here's a foolproof way of figuring it out:
1. Buy the BLNR 2. After a while, sell the one you like less if you're a "one watch guy" 3. Else, keep both /thread |

Having owned both. If I had to keep just one and have no other watches, I'd go for the BLNR. I use the GMT function more.

At some point get the black GMT, it is far more understated and way more versatile. The Batman has too much bling for everyday wear as someone said.

Yeah...black dials can be a little on the boring side. But don't be hasty, the sub is such a good all around watch, I wouldn't nix it just yet.
Try a SD43 or a bluesy. And if you can, add don't flip. |

The sub is a classic!
I would Add the BLNR then trade the sub for the LV. Perfect two Rolex combo |

Sell my sub date for batman?
That’s why I went with BLNR cause LN seemed little boring to me. Then I added LV
I would personally trade LN for BLNR then add LV down the road. Or trade sub date for no date then add the BLNR and LV |

I too found the all black a little sedate after a while, I have a LVc now and other watches to keep my interest up. I'm not a one watch everyday guy at all.

I had my BLNR on for about a month during Christmas / holiday season, and was thinking to myself: this is a perfect watch for a one-watch-guy kind of a person.
Similar in shape to SubC, it is thinner and more comfortable to wear on a daily basis. The GMT functionality is an added bonus. The blue/black bezel is entertaining. The PCL adds some bling to it (making it easier to dress up). I gladly wear it with shorts and Tshirt too, but then again I did that with my 16613LB for 10 years and enjoyed it. Both great and beautiful watches, but you can't go wrong with a BLNR.

The very reason many love the Sub is the reason some get bored with it. Its the quintessential Rolex, the one many think of when they think of the brand. So theres alot of them out there and the image of this watch will forever be in the minds of all. The BLNR however is different and has that splash of blue..
