I noticed that the Sea-Dweller 116600 was made with two different styles of finish on the inside of the clasp.
I know that the ones made in 2014 had the ‘sandblasted’ finish and later Rolex changed to the polished finish.
Anybody knows when they changed, and why?

SD wasn't the only one, they all did (quite a few threads out there).

Just a guess as to why...possibly to minimize the (already minimal) chance of rust or corrosion attacking the inner clasp elements under regular exposure to water, and particularly, saline water. The smoother, highly polished surfaces seem to resist oxidation a bit better than matte or sandblasted ones...at least in my experiences.
