Itching for something new… maybe a 663 or a 372?
Hi all,
I’m itching for something new maybe something historic like the 663 or 372. I currently own a 1312 and would like something to complement it. Both pieces would probably see even wrist time as I would rotate them daily. I’ve been digging around the forums and 663/372 have caught my eye, however I have a couple of questions/concerns- 1- I’ve never owned a timepiece with a plexi Crystal. Should I be concerned about scratches on the plexi? I really try hard to keep my watch is in mint condition and I’m worried that the plexi would show lots of wear. Am I just being paranoid? 2- I like the idea of a larger case and 1312 fits my wrist nicely. Do you think that the larger 47 MM case would be OK on my wrist (see picture below)? Let me know your thoughts! Thanks in advance!! David |

I owned this 372 since 2014, no issues at all and also it’s coming with a spare Plexi in case.

love the 372 more than the 663....currently have 3 plexi watches, not an issue
polywatch works well if it gets scratched up

You can't go wrong with either the 372 or 663...pick which dial you like he best...everything else is the same...
Plexi is very sexy...I have a few plexi crystals and love them the best! |

I would go with a 372 if you can handle the size. For me the combo of 47mm and 1950 case was just too big. I wanted it to work, but it just didnt at the end of the day. It is such a beautifully simple watch!!

I prefer the 422 over the 372 for the second hand and sapphire crystal. I am not a fan of plastic crystals as I owned them years ago with several Rolex watches and did not like having to clean them up or replace them. I think the new 372 models have gone to sapphire but I am not sure.

As far as plexi, I really like it. I don't have any Panerai with plexi, but I do have a Speedmaster with it. I think it's a good change up from the rest of my collection which is obviously sapphire. I think on the 372 the plexi crystal adds to the vintage feel of the reference. They do scuff easily, but that's part of the charm. I don't like the updates Panerai has made to the 372 in the past couple of years. I prefer the older models (I think it came out in 2011). I am scouting an earlier model with the plexi crystal, ranger strap, at the right price, in good shape as we speak. |

Make sure the 47mm works for you. I tried 372 twicw and a 422 once. In the long run i love the watches but could not get used to the 47 mm. Have ended up with a 233 and it works well. 372 is so simple and clean.

Anyone know of a 372 for sale with the Sapphire Crystal? I’m open to a new one at the right price too...

Great input! Leaning more towards a 372 or 422 now. The black dial really speaks to me.

372 is a classic.
47mm is big on anyone's wrist but you won't care once you get used to it. Plexi isn't a problem. It actually has a warmness to it as it wears in that you just don't get with Saphire. Yes you will notice the small squirls on it that just seem to appear no matter how hard you try to avoid them - but as others have said, they will soon polish out no probs with a bit of polywatch cream cleaner. Plenty of good used examples out there so you will save loads off list - bonus!! Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk

Now comes the grueling 24+ hour wait. I’ve been itching for a 47mm PAM for quite some time and I finally pulled the trigger!
I went with........ any guesses? |

And the winner is.....
the 372! Man, I love this thing. What a difference from my 44mm PAM. This one sits very nicely in my wrist, the domes crystal is amazing and the clean simple dial is something else. I can’t describe it, but this watch is something special. It feels “just right.”
Thank you all for your input, it was all very helpful in making my decision. For a moment there, I was strongly considering a 422 but I could get over how busy the dial was. I’m glad I chose the 372 and look forward to many years of enjoying this beauty! |

The 372 is one of the most beautiful watches made today from any brand in my opinion.

Although I sold mine some while back, I would still say it's the most beautiful watch I've owned. Just the size doesn't suit some .. Anyway, BIG Congratulations, I know you will gaze at it in wonder for many years to come ! |
