Honest opinion about 114060 AND 116710LN together

Hi guys, still playing with the idea of what to buy next.... I have a couple of options however also some ''struggles'' to go with one or each other. Some models i just simply don't like, a Explorer would be another great option but i have to go with the 40mm and i just don't like ''older'' watches, cause i buy them for myself only, and i don't like another his history on my wrist.

If you could only own 2 rolexes, would a GMT master 2 with the black bezel and a 114060 no date make a good combo ? I know it is a bit boring perhaps, but the green hands, the date window the bezel and center links + green letters on dial and different functions makes it quite a different watch to me... and a plus point is that my girlfriend can wear one of them while we are out and makes a nice ''couple'' watch in 1.... Well at least, that is what i think... But i guess i would get negative comments of you guys as i guess you will find it to boring for just a 2 piece collection?

Any pro's?
Any con's?

Would i be crazy to buy myself a black GMT while i own allready a ND?

Not crazy if that’s what you like... There are collectors here that have 2+ versions of the same watch... Try a couple other watches on at the AD and see what really speaks to you... You could also look at the Polar EXP II... Still have the GMT function and looks different from the SubC.

Sure, why not? I have a 114060 and will eventually get a 2nd Rolex. Ideally, it will be a BLNR GMT, but since it is in such high demand and so hard to get, I doubt I’ll get it. I could go with the Exp 1. That wouldn’t be much different than what you’re proposing. 2 black dial Rolexes with no date, but both are classics.

Honest opinion about 114060 AND 116710LN together

Not enough variety for me. The ceramics start looking too much alike IMO.

One is enough in a collection...and the two watches you mention have very similar dials what with the modern maxi plots etc.

Branch out with other brands. How about a chrono? Zenith El Primero, a Speedy Pro variant ?

I love a lot of brands... But they don't do for me what Rolex does...... I think i regret another brand very very shortly :) The first watches that i liked years ago where the s Rolex sport models... Years later i owned a Breitling, liked it and liked many many other watches for a few weeks or a month but the only watches i never stopped or reduced to like where the looks of the Rolex sport models... they never bored me or i never got tired of them. In fact i think they are ''the perfect'' types of watch for me...

Well so much for my “honest opinion”

Ok. As the only two Rolex watches in a collection...I’d keep the BLNR and new DateJust silver stick dial 116234 on Jubilee.

Well now you can see that the SubC goes well with both the GMT or Expolorer... Now go out and get one and post your incoming thread!!!

Anyone else care to enable???

I think my ideal Rolex pairing would be a Submariner 114060 and a white dial Explorer II 16570. As such, I'm shopping around for a 16570 to buy this year (as I already have a 114060).

If I'm sticking with current Rolex models, I'd get the 114060 with a blue dial Oyster Perpetual 39. Dress it up a bit.

Me too. It's a hell of a watch. I prefer the vintage look and taper, so I put mine on an 1171.

I own a 114060 and my next purchase will most likely be a Daytona, which I would use as my week-end watch.

If I were you with a 114060 and wanted to add a Rolex GMT, I would opt for either an Explorer II Polar or a BLNR and it would probably be the former. To me, the all black GMT is just too similar.

Mix it up a little! BLNR and sub no date would be fine but the Black gmt is just too similar imho

I have both and love black dials. I rotate mine out on a 3 week basis and usually I look forward to wearing the next one, both the glidelock and easy link are brilliant and I am always admiring the black ceramic bezels.
My advice try both then go away and have time to think before purchase.
Which ever you choose they are both nice watches.

Most watches are similar - round dial, hands, bracelet, crystal etc.

Buy as many as you can.

You can never have too many to choose from.
