Paying 18K for Daytona Steel 116500LN
Hello everyone,
Would any of you pay 18K for the Daytona Steel 116500LN? I'm tired of my AD's waiting list! By the way, I want to buy it from Certified Luxury Watches , and I appreciate if you guys can share your experience regarding this seller with me. |

No, but thats just me. Buy it if you want it that badly. I don't know anything about the company you named above but there are plenty of legit secondary sellers both here and on the web. Remember, buy the seller and not the watch and you'll be ok. Good luck!

I’d buy another watch with the $5.5k premium you were gonna pay on the Daytona and keep waiting it out.

I did. With the uncertainty as to when one would actually be allocated to me I opted to buy a BNIB one on TRF. It really comes down to how much you like the watch and if certainty is worth the extra money to you.

It’s market value.
For white go for it, if black try to get 1k off. |

To each their own, but I wouldn’t pay the premium for one.

It’s a tough call. The only answer is what works best for you. If it is the only watch you want and money is not the issue then have at it. But if there is a Patek or an AP or another watch with out a premium then go for it and come back when all the hype on the SS models is over with...

I'd save more and buy gold Daytonas...and yes I own the 116500 amongst other Daytonas.

I’m convinced I won’t be offered one at my AD unless I start dropping big money on PM models. When I went to pickup a BLNR the other day, I asked my salesman about getting on the “list” for a Daytona... expecting I’ll be ready to buy two or three years down the road. He basically said there’s no list, and sought after models go to their customers who buy 6+ watches a year. After hearing that I think I’d just pay the premium and get one from DavidSW if I REALLY wanted the watch... but after seeing a white Daytona in person, I’m not that impressed. Rather add a Lange One to my collection for that type of money. At $12,400 I’d buy one in a heartbeat, even if the market value wasn’t approaching $20k... but I agree paying 50% over MSRP would ruin the experience for me.

You will get all sort of responses depending on many variables. What the watch mean to people, how easy money comes to them, how they view luxury in life and what principles they like to stick to!
To me if the MSRP is 18k I would get it at a heart beat but knowing that someone is “scamming me” with 50% extra is what I refuse. Others might disagree!

Nope. Even if I made enough to where $5K wasn't that big a deal, I wouldn't give the seller the satisfaction.

i wouldn't pay that much of a premium for sure. Too much for my taste.
By the way Anthony and Chris from Certified Luxury Watches are great sellers. Anthony has sold me several Rolex watches in the past including a black dialed pre-ceramic Daytona at very competitive prices.Service and communication is great. |

I have a fair collection and would like to add a ceramic SS Daytona. But much above sticker i would regret the premium. Heck $12,400 is a big chunck to pay for very much the same watch that has a SS bezel. I would like to own a black face but jist make the damn thing more available

Many have. For some the money is not as valuable as the watch. That is why we buy things in the first place, because it 'is worth it to them.' But for most of us $18K for a $12.4K watch is not worth it. There are people on this forum with watch collections worth more than my house. To them it is a no-brainer to get the watch you want tomorrow.

Greetings from the UK.
Let me take you back to when you were a child and you wanted to open your Christmas presents a day early. Did your parents let you? Or did you have to wait with eager anticipation for Christmas morning? Do you remember the feeling you had whilst waiting on tenterhooks? Well now you’ve grown up, I hope you bring 5his lesson to your kids, or kids to be. Moral is, enjoy the wait. Bask in the glory of beating Rolex at their own game. Regards |

If you want it now & have the $$ on deck then go for it. You live once. If you're stretching yourself for the extra premium, then wait patiently.

Why wait for an undefined period of time ?
Buy it now, but look around on TRF for alternative trusted sellers.

I don't feel like a seller is scamming anyone any more than they would be by charging more than retail for a vintage watch. The going rate is the going rate. Arguably, Rolex is scamming everyone by withholding production and allocation, bolstering the price. That said, I do find it annoying and wouldn't pay the premium for a watch. Plus, once you make it up to 18k, you're getting PM model range which would interest me more.
