Laptimer! Sell it or keep it?

Hi, I’m considering selling my Laptimer to get the 2018 ROO 25th Anniversary tourbillion in steel. What would you advise me to do?

Unfortunately I can’t try it. My dealer has just one piece available and I need to confirm with a deposit in the next 2 days. I believe he has another client waiting.

I absolutely love The Laptimer. It is definitely unique but it’s not a very comfortable watch to wear on the wrist.
Also, the only reason I’m considering selling it is because it doesn’t seem to be holding/appreciating in value like the other Schumachers.

If you don’t enjoy wearing it then I would get rid of it.
Value wise as Roger said it’s looking ok ish for Laptimer, however ROO Schumi prices have soared.
If you go for the 25th Anniversary piece make sure you buy it right or I guess you may also become disappointed with its value further down the line.

Right now I’m only getting a marginal discount but I’m assuming it would hold its value since it’s a LE of only 25 pieces and it’s an Anniversary edition. I could be wrong.

180 is a solid bid for the Lap Timer if that is a cash bid.

Whilst limited certainly helps it is no guarantee of value retention. If you see Watches as an investment and you only buy new then I am afraid I would steer clear of AP tourbillons generally. I own a few and have owned others in the past so I do have real world experience.

There are only 25 in the world, it’s the latest model and they’re offering a discount, the answer is that for whatever reason the demand isn’t especially strong.

laptimer seems like a lot more unique piece to me. then again i dont have anywhere near the scratch to even consider 200k timepieces.

As a huge F1 fan, a watch that's associated with the greatest F1 driver, there's no way I would sell it. For anything....

Asking prices are pretty stable on this model although trade bids for cash are ugly. Of course asking prices are just that, asking prices. I see trade bids at about 160-170 and you can probably buy used at about 190 with some effort. For an AP of this value, that is actually pretty good value retention IMHO. In my view the anniversary pieces, which are priced a lot higher, do seem to polarise opinions and I reckon you could lose a lot more unless there is a decent discount on offer.

Hey Roger, thanks a lot for the information. I got an offer of 180k so I’m guessing that’s a good offer after reading your message. I see a lot of RM’s holding/aprreciating in value lately. Do you think I should go in that direction instead? I just want my watches to be good investments that’s all.

If I owned the laptimer, I'd personally keep it as it's associated to Michael Schumacher.

That said François-Henry Bennahmias said that that design would be exclusive for that because they want to start recognizing "that market" that supports those releases and not release so many LE's and copies and keep the exclusivity.

(Contradictory I know) I really do like the 25th anniversary and if I was at that level, I'd get it as it's a pretty special piece and stands out a lot more (in person) than the laptimer.

I actually have the titanium and the gold schumachers also which went up a lot in value since I bought them so I don’t think i will regret getting rid of this one. But what you’re saying is absolutely right. It definitely is a very very unique watch to own. I really wish I could see the 25th Anniversary in person before sending a deposit.

I see the dilemma though as there’s not much point owning a watch that you don’t find comfortable to wear. The anniversary tourbillon does look like a very bulky watch so there’s no guarantee that this would be more comfortable.

I think the shape of the concept case and the folding clasp is what makes the Laptimer uncomfortable to wear. The thickness of the case on the 25th Anniversary looked similar to the 44mm so I don’t think it can be bulkier than the Laptimer

Yes, that’s a great idea, THE COOLEST ROO ever made IMO, Laptimer is nice but not a big fan, and the 25th is kinda awful for me, I think it will lose a lot of money if you decide to sell
