Rolex diameter choices
Does anyone know how does Rolex dictate what watches get what diameters? I'm a part of the small wrist gang, 7in, and would love to see Rolex make some 37s-39s, especially in GMTs and Subs. However, if Rolex came out with the Deepsea 116660 in a 38in...I would camp outside the AD. I like the new subs, but not a fan of the tankery on my wrist. I hope Rolex comes out with a slimmer case (already a thread about this) and/or a smaller diameter, 38in.

Plenty of vintage pieces to buy
Wishing for something is not very productive

Rolex makes watches in 34mm, 36mm, 39mm, etc. Take a look at those. But 7 inches is about an average wrist. I don’t know why a 40mm wouldn’t be fine. |

a 38mm deepsea would look ridiculous IMO. It would still be as thick as the 44mm version as it needs to be thick. Then you would have a watch with really bad proportions.
As far as the other sports watches, clearly 40mm and bigger is what sells so thats what they make. They make smaller for dresser watches, but i doubt they would sell that many with a line up all under 40mm. To me 40mm is normal size, not big at all. |

A 40mm is actually fine, but I also look at the case. I really don't like the maxi case on the sub. However, I do like the new subs...just not the case part. If Rolex slims the case...that would be nice.

You can also do forearm/wrist exercises with weights to strengthen or slightly increase your wrist size if you want. Lay your arm straight on your thigh and curl the weight up with your palms facing up and then with your palms facing down.

I really like the 39mm Explorer. Like everything about it. Have you considered it?

I am also a 7” wrist my 36 16233 DJ is fine and my 16750 (40mm) Explorer II is perfect. As for a 42mm I tried the newer Explorer II but found it too big for my taste. My 41mm Tudor Black Bay is just at the outside of what I can wear, but the 40 is much better.

A 7" wrist is hardly small IMO I’m a 7” wrist as well.
Do these look too large for me? Sent from my SM-G935W8 using Tapatalk |

A couple members have already pointed out that there is a good selection of sub-40mm rolexes but I understand your frustration. The sport watches seem to have 40 as the floor and several of them are monsters. I see lots of techies wearing these cheapo ginormous toy watches and think they look ridiculous. I’m wondering if the giantism fad has much life left in it, and if rolex has topped out at the 42 - 44 range? I’m all for everyone having what they want, and agree with the op that slightly smaller versions of the gmt, for example, might be big hits with men and women. |

Not at all! They look great! Especially the SD43. That watch is slowly growing on me.

7" is larger than my wrist and personally my cut off is the DJ41. I have a GMT and it fits fine and my Exp I is very comfortable.
If you have worn a 36mm watch for years it just takes a little adjustment period to get used to a slightly larger watch. But you will adapt. |
