Do you think the Stainless Sky Dweller will become an iconic watch ? Or go the way of the Milgauss GV . At first a very hot model selling above MSRP now readily available in many markets for below MSRP

Seems too early too tell, but the SKD has a lot more complications than the Milgauss. I think the SKD will have a larger customer base and do alright for itself in the coming years. That's one mans opinion anyway.

it's a little bulky for a large demographic tbh. Of course in the States people are generally bigger so maybe it would do well?

Datejust is the most iconic Rolex.
Sky D is a bigger size DJ with added complications, so it will become iconic..

A wonderful and innovative approach to an annual calendar, but the design and size are a bit polarizing. I’m not so sure of the Sky Dweller’s longevity, but I’m sure Rolex will find other ways to integrate the complication.

A better question is will the Sky-Dweller become an iconic watch regardless of what metal it's made out of. Only time can answer that. It was released in 2012 so by 2032 we will have the answer to that question.

Sky dweller has so many useful complications and is an excellent movement that is far from a basic milligauss as you can get. Of course no one really knows about future values and demand, but then again I'm not looking to sell my SkyD anytime soon as it's a daily beater and works great!

Who knows what the future holds but to me it is the best value of any Rolex or in fact most watches out there in the market. To get an annual calendar/GMT with the cool command bezel while retaining the sporty Rolex Professional line look for $14,400 not bad! It’s built to be worn casually or in business attire like most oyster bracelet Rolex can. So whether it is inconic or a flop at the end of the day all that matters is do you like it now and like Steven I sure do!

I don't think it is going to end up iconic like the Daytona, SUB, or GMT. I think its just going to ... exist. Like the yachtmaster, milgauss etc. Doesn't make it a bad watch, just don't think it will gain the same following as the other models I listed.

I love mine and I am still enamored with the complication, but I’m not in the “iconic” camp just yet and think this 30% above MSRP is never going to last no matter how well it is received.

I think it should hold its value pretty well as the complication is so unique for Rolex.

The SkyD is too young to be iconic and I'll probably be dead before I see a future story with the headline 'The Iconic Skydweller, one of Rolex's most popular watches.' it just doesn't sound like it is going to happen.

But I'd love to see that movement in a DateJust style case. The SkyD is just too big and bulky for me.
