Good call or dumb decision?

This past summer, I took a trip to Switzerland, and with a lot of effort, I arranged to buy a 114060 Submariner (no date) while I was on my trip (I decided that I preferred the no date version over the date version, but didn't give much thought to the Hulk because it wasn't as classic).

By way of background, I have several watches including a Patek Nautilus in steel (5712A), and wanted a Sub to wear primarily on the weekend and as a pool/ocean watch or just wanted to change up my look. I also have a Panarai 359 as a casual watch (with a date), so the sub was meant to be more of a "beater" watch for me when I didn't want to wear the 5712 or PAM 359 (I also have a JLC dress watch as well as a Bell & Ross time only BR-01 on a rubber strap).

I also wanted to add a Rolex to my collection, so this trip to Switzerland seemed like a great opportunity to pick one up in the motherland...

My plan for this particular Rolex was/is to keep it forever given the extra sentimentality of getting it in Switzerland.

When I finally arrived to the AD in Switzerland, they got the watch out of the safe and then their jaw dropped when they opened the box and realized that they had been holding a 116610LV instead (by mistake). I held the Hulk in my hand, but did not try it on. As I was doing this, the store manager made some calls and told me that my 114060 could be transferred to their store the following day, or I could buy the Hulk right then if I preferred? I chose to wait and buy the 114060 the next day. I've been thrilled with it ever since.

That being said, my favorite part of my 5712 is that the dial is ever-changing depending on the light. The starburst effect on the Hulk makes me wonder if I would likewise prefer that watch to the plain black dial of the 114060?

Recently, with the rising prices and limited availability of the Hulk, I am starting to regret not at least trying on the Hulk to see if it "sung" to me. On the flip-side, what attracted me to the 114060 in the first place was that I don't like the cyclops (although I don't hate it either), didn't want to have to set the date every weekend when I put the watch back on after 5 days off, and I like the low-key nature of the 114060 (as well as the fact that it is the original and pure-- in line with my keep it for life outlook on this watch).

The reason I didn't give the Hulk a closer look is because I thought green might be too loud, and also something I could tire of rather than keep forever. But now I'm starting to wonder if I made the right choice and I haven't been able to find a Hulk at an AD since feeling this way to try it on and see once and for all (and at this rate, I may never be able to do so).

So... loyal TRF people: Did I make the right choice by choosing my first choice in the timeless 114060, or should I have gone for the more unique, although more flashy (and $1,500 more expensive) 116610lv?
