Gold Daytona owners ... Lend me your ears!

I'm intrigued by the PM Daytonas as the prices of SS climbs and the PM price stays relatively static.

My question, for you owners, if you bought one of the models on leather (116519 or 116518) do you regret not getting a bracelet model?

Thanks

Think why those models were heavily discounted in '17. To make way for Oysterflex and newer models

I picked this up last year on leather and bought an aftermarket RubberB. It is my favorite watch.

I have a solid GMT but wear this 95% of the time.

I have both. Each has its own charm. This is my second 116518. I never regretted buying this model; but I did regret selling the first one, which led to me buy the same model again. I love the feel of the 116518 on my arm; and when I change straps every now and then, the watch takes on a different look.

I prefer the Daytona on a bracelet. I wore a YG Daytona on a bracelet for about 10 years and I guess it just works better for me.

For me the ceramic bezel was more important, so I'd choose the WG OF now, which I prefer to leather.

the only daytona i would get is the WG on OF. The only way i would get a bracelet is if it was the same watch and dial including the ceramic bezel on a WG bracelet. The current one that is almost the same does not have ceramic. Since it doesnt exist the OF is my first choice.

In the end buy what you like.

Thanks everyone. I'm actually not a huge fan of the ceramic bezel on the Daytona, I'm sure that's the extreme minority opinion though.

I also don't like the standard steel bezel, it just looks too plain and I really only like the PM bezel.

One of my plans, if I went with the 116518/9, would be to get a RubberB to go along with the stock leather so I could make it sportier.

Thanks again everyone.

I too prefer the non-ceramic to the ceramic and also prefer full bracelet. I think the ceramic lends itself better to the sportier OF look.

That's what i did, have stock leather and Rubber B in black with red stitching. Everose with cream/white dial btw. Zero regrets.

Haven't considered Daytona until it received the ceramic bezel. With the ceramic bezel I ended up getting two of the most desired versions.

I prefer leather. The black ceramic bezel and the black leather are a very elegant combo. Less ostentatious especially if it's all YG. With RubberB mo option mo better

Regret? What are you talking about? I will go for the oysterflex or strap version any day. My choice won't change if I need to select again 10 more times.

The only bracelet daytonas I will consider is SS white or platona, period.

Don’t discount this one from your thoughts. I tried it on and was blown away by the comfort and look of the oyster flex. Amazing watch. I might have to work a little harder before I will get one however......

Sitting in WoS window in Canary Wharf if there is any interest.

Love the oysterflex, NO regret at all! that is the way Daytona is supposed to look and feel. It's a sports watch after all. FYI, I can always get the WG bracelet if I want according to my AD.

Beautiful watch.

I think your AD is talking rubbish though, the bracelet will not fit on a 116519, completely different fittings.

Buy with a bracelet and if you must you can have a nice custom leather made for a different look.

with no disrespect to the 5 digit bracelets, I'd rather have an integral leather strap and clasp than the 5 digit rolex bracelet. Instead of shipping your bracelet off to have new pins by MY you can spend like 200-350 and get a brand new Rolex leather strap.

Added some pictures. I'd also suggest the 16518 / 16519 you get a great entry point into a zenith Daytona, (about 10k less than a SS?), plus you get the new style bezel, its a great combination of symmetrical zenith dials, bezel, and straps. I love the box too, one of the best rolex boxes around...

IMHO the leather strap with Everose makes it look nicely formal. If i swap to the Rubber B with red stitching it looks more sporty. Here's a pic when first getting her and trying things out (and why protective plastic is still on her).

As for metal band, that's your call and not sure the availability of after market bands for that.
