What is the Next "Must Have" Model and/or Brand?

As watch lovers, and while we have our own preferences, I don't think we discriminate when we see or handle an appealing and quality piece that merits acquisition. So which present or upcoming models/brands, (including micro), represent "must haves" for you and why? This being beyond the obvious love we have for everything Rolex.

MB&F is ushering mechanical watchmaking into the 21st century. Their designs and innovations are exceptional. I love the collaboration they did with Silberstein.

In all honesty Rolex is the only “must have” brand for me. Everything else I crave but Rolex is a necessity.

Of course! By my definition they are watches that may be below "grail" level but remain on your mind and in your thoughts, not rising to the level of complete obsession, but ones that you itch to buy, add to your collection, and look forward to seeing on your wrist, applying only minimal considerations of practicality and loss of funds that might go to your ultimate, down the road, most desired purchase.

For me, the next watch must be represent something different, a modern take on styling, materials or engineering. Think RM, Urwerk, MB&F.

Wonder what Gen Z buyers will want in watches when they have the money when it comes to mechanical watches? Makes me think that expected appreciation or desirability that we discuss today on this forum will be totally illusory as we don't know their tastes. Imagine them going "meh" at the prospect of buying a Hulk. Maybe Rolex has done some marketing research on this and determined that DJs are the wave of the future- so that is why you seem to see so many of them in the display cases!

I do wonder about if the future of mechanical watches is bright.

What is the Next "Must Have" Model and/or Brand?

Perhaps I will find out when they are revealed at Baselworld this year! I have my favorite AD on Speed Dial!

Last Year was the DaytonaC!

I think Nomos has potential considering they already create in house movements.

This is on my radar...was at the botique in Las Vegas and while I tried on some amazing reversos, this and the gmt version were really singing to me. Just pure class and a great value.

I'm currently shopping for a JLC Master Control, but that's more of a utilitarian piece. As far as must have, definitely Watcheroo's F.P. Journe.

Maybe I should scrap the JLC plan and get a GO to tide me over, although that strikes me as a half measure...
