Advice on 15202 vs 15450 blue dial
Hi,
I understand that this topic has been beaten to death but I needed some advice. As mentioned in other posts, I had a 15450 silver dial which wore a little small, at least in my eyes, on my 6.25~ inch flat wrist. I sold it in 2017 and got on a wiatlist for a 15202 at my AD. I have just been told by my AD that they don't expect to get the 15202 anytime soon. So, now I have the option to put a deposit down for either a 15202 (expected delivery in June 2019) or a 15450 blue (expected delivery later this year). Both options are only available at an AP boutique. Regarding the 15202, I have tried the watch twice at AP boutiques and felt it wore a little big on my wrist. There was no space between my wrist and the stiff links of the bracelet around the case. However, I didn't get the feeling that it is a perfect fit. So, now I am in a conundrum. Should I go for a slightly small 15450 or slightly big 15202? For reference, wrist shot of my earlier 15450 and three wrists of 15202, taken at different points in time, are given below 15450 15202 (3 wrist shots) |

It's a tough one. The 15450 is a great size for you, but I don't think the 15202 is too big for you.
The 15450 has a better dial-to-bezel ratio in my view (I'm going to get pelters for saying that!). But...there is something about the 15450 that fails to 'wow' me. I'm just not sure that it's quite 'enough' watch. I have a silver dial and a blue dial 15450 and they are a great fit, and look great, but they just don't quite wow me. Hard to not like how that 15450 fits on your wrist Ali! It looks perfect, imo.

15450 fits well but the 15202 is slimmer and sits more flat on the wrist. I have a sub 6.5" wrist and the 15202 fits just fine

15450 looks great on you. I’d save the money and get that personally. I think 6.5 and under the 450 is the best option and damned lucky as it’s a beauty.

Thank you all for your responses. The thread overwhelmingly voted for the 15450. However, I couldn't shake the previous experience of owning the 15450 where I felt it wore a little small on my wrist. The 15202 does wear a little big on my wrist but the effect is accentuated in the pictures I feel. In the end, the iconic status of the 15202 was too much of a pull for me. So, I have put down the deposit for the Jumbo with expected delivery in May 2019. I wish I had done this in Jan 2017 when I got on the waitlist at my AD. Well, I have my 5711 white dial to look forward to this year, which should be arriving before June.
My choice of 15202 also leaves me the option of later adding a silver dial 15450, which I regret selling sometime. For some reason, I prefer the silver to the blue of the 15450/15400. With small wrists, I don't have the luxury of considering an offshore. As always, I appreciate the help on this forum. |

i also have a smaller wrist...a bit bigger than OP, around 7 inches flat.
I always found the 15400 looked like a flat clock hanging off my wrist, though if tightened up properly, can look ok. i went for a 202, cause of the hype and i liked the size...39mm has always been my goto size. but i am curious about the 450 that seems to be getting a lot of attention lately...especially the blue dial versions...i dig the YG blue dial version, but my salesman was downplaying it a bit acting like it wasn't a great piece (is there something off about it, movement, etc)? thanks nick |
