Trade off did not materialize, and so... incoming!!
Some of you will remember that I was offered a 16710 with both Coke and Pepsi inserts for a trade for my 114060. Long story short, the interested trade party vanished and trade did not materialize. In the meantime, I was offered another 16710 Coke and if I'm honest, I fell for its charms. Picked her up tonight and put her through a soap scrub; ready for some quick pictures!
And here is the new addition to the little family, along with her trade sister: |

Just soap and a toothbrush isn't going to cut it. Since I don't have an ultrasonic cleaner, here's to good old baking soda. Plop her in for an overnight soak:

Overnight soak with baking soda, immersed in water? Sorry for my ignorance, first time I hear of it, what does it do more compared to soap and water? Thanks!

Congrats. I saw a Coke last week for the first time in person on a client of mine and it really impressed me. Nice job!

@101031-28 yup, immersed in water. Its the same concept as a drum wash for your washing machine, except the washing machine requires heckuva lot of baking soda. What it does, is get the dirt to come out from crevices; not sure if you can see the black specks in my picture. That's dirt (and no doubt err, DNA) from places a toothbrush cannot reach.

Congrats on the 16710! Non-SEL and lug holes too. I dig it.
Word of caution though, I'd have the seals inspected before any further overnight baking soda baths. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Nice watch!
Anyone else think the "2" on the insert looks a little off? Kind of too curvy. |

The watch is an E serial, dating back to 1990. It has a single clasp style bracelet, but T11 so dating to Nov 1995 if not mistaken; looks like replaced once, but still period correct. And here she is on the wrist after a night of proper cleaning! |

I also agree. The 2's have too much of a "hook" to them. I'm not an expert, but from what I've read this may be an aftermarket bezel insert.

Cheers again, gents
Thank you for weighing in as well. Hopefully a few more experts are able to provide comments as well; may swing by RSC to get it sorted it the bezel does turn out to be aftermarket. Perhaps I should also post a thread to get the bezel checked and/or replaced. |
