Started training Muay Thai again

Am I crazy at my older age?

My metabolism is slowing down and I’m starting to not be able to eat whatever I want without putting on weight.

So I’m doing 3 nights a week of 2hr sessions of pure hell on earth.

I’m a month in and loving it , well loving the feeling after training :)

Shins after yesterday’s session , a lot of kicking and checking(blocking)kicks !

You never show that those bone to bone crunches hurt you , you just smile and give it back harder !

Increase bone density

She’ll be right ... just have to desensitise those shin bones

I have been doing it on and off for the last 20 yrs though , I wouldn’t rush a novice into sparring

The calorie expenditure is second to none though

I could drop twenty pounds fast doing Muy Thai.

Unfortunately it would come from someone knocking my head clean off.

I remember the days of greek vs turkish rivalry in the Australian kickboxing scene during the 90's.

Anyone ever tell you that you look like Iron Mike Zambidis?

Yes just got back from another session , got damn my lungs where hurting trying to get more air , we had sparring session again and this time I encountered some of the taller more experienced fighters , now that’s scary , as soon as you try to get within range those long push kicks would hit you right in the mid section and take your breath away , with tall fighters you need to get past their sweet spot in terms of range , even if you have to take one going in , once your inside then the advantage changes to you , of course if you get too close they clinch you and start throwing knees , I’m really enjoying it , and always a lot more to learn !

Of course as if all that wasn’t enough at the end finishing up with sit-ups / push-ups and he makes us hold the push-up just off the ground for 10 sec , then hold the push-up opposite leg opposite arm extended off the ground and hold it until failure and see who can hold it till the longest ! The ultimate exhaustion !

Muay Thai is amazing. Been doing it off and on for a good 6 yrs now. My key to survival was to do lots of parking lot and doing side to side sprints between dividers. Gives you more micro fissures in the shins same as kicking heavy bags.

Basically any exercises between soccer, tennis, and Muay Thai will transfer well. ;)

My Ajarn had us do those and jump ropes for a good hour alongside stretches lol.
