Servicing of the discontinued

Is it possible for Rolex to service a discontinued watch?

Say someone has a 16710 or a sea-dweller. Is it possible to get that watch serviced by Rolex 5 years from today? Will they still have/make the parts?

Cheers!

It is only really a problem to get Bubbleback parts those are pushing 70 years old, but thats why there is NAWCC and eBay.

Mainsprings, hairsprings, balance staffs & wheels, palet forks, crowns & tubes, crystals, gaskets are all available for 50's and up.

The Toronto RSC will still service older watches providing they can source the parts and the watch doesn't have what they call an "exotic" dial. This one of Nancy's from 1960 was serviced there last year. They still had every part in stock to overhaul the cal. 1400 movement, and they sent the case/bracelet out to a goldsmith who does contract work for them for a bracelet repair. I figure that's pretty good factory support for an almost 50 year old watch.

I don't want to get technical, but according to chemistry alcohol IS a solution!

Beautiful, Alcan. I have a similar watch on layaway at my local jewelers. It's yellow gold instead of white and has a square face with a diamond bezel instead of round with a smooth bezel. But it has the same style bracelet and the 1400 movement. It's good to know I can get it serviced at an RSC. I assumed I wouldn't be able to.

I'll be picking it up later this month. I can't wait! An Xmas present for myself and a nice contrast to my midsize DJ.

Can I ask what the problem with the bracelet was?
