Will dial/strap color change the apparent size of a PAM?
I tried on a few Panerais again yesterday. Radiomir 1940 line. I brought a friend with me, and according to him (and my judgment as well), the 42mm looked a little "lost" on my wrist, but it was a white dial with a strap color I'd probably never wear (light brown) so it's hard to say if it would look better in black with a better strap color for me. The 45mm was more proportional but I didn't like the Automatic text on the dial (threw off the symmetry, non-matching font is no-go). I love how slim the case sat on my wrist and the clean dial, plus the quick-change strap system. Very appealing. Size was the only issue.
Here's my question: does the dial color change the apparent size of the watch? In other words, could the 42mm have looked smaller on me due to the white dial + strap that's too close to my skin tone? I'm trying to decide if I want to hunt down a black dial 42mm Radiomir 1940 to try on before I give up on this as an option for me. |

A thick ammo strap will "beef" up the look, but those kinds of straps lend themselves more to the bigger PAMs, IMHO.

Yeah I’m wondering more about the dial. I may have to go hunt down a 42mm somewhere and take some full length pics to get feedback. Up close it looks fine. It’s the full view I am not sure about. |
