Cream dial 16570 Explorer 2 info
Lots of info on the cream dial 16650s, less so on the 16570s. I just picked this up from the original owner, X7xxx serial.
See a few other cream 16570s in a search. Anyone else have one, or could shed more light on them? Thx. |

Holy grail for Exp II lovers! They are indeed even rare than cream 16550s.
I would imagine its probably the first production run of the 16570 that has the 'defect' lacquer from the 16550. Upon searching the forum, I saw a deal back in 2012 for a a similar one for close to 8k. ant imagine what its trading at now. |

What you’ve got is a beautiful example of a hard to find variation. Awesome, stunning piece.

Cream dial 16570 Explorer 2 info
Here is mine. They are pretty rare though. From my understanding only the rail dial turn cream. I bought one non rail dial cream but it turned out the dial was tampered with. In the end I had to return it.
Btw, if I remember correctly, it also has the x serial. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Please share pictures. I’m not saying it’s not out there but I haven’t seen one that’s legit yet. Even the rail cream 16570 is very rare. Much rarer than 16550 cream. When I bought it years ago before the cream was popular, it came with Rolex rsc paper. I blame it on autoconnect. |

Funny you should say. I encountered a 16570 cream dial in the wild just yesterday.
I was seeing a police officer in my city and he commented on my watch. I said thank you, I see your Explorer II. He told me that he bought it for $2500 about 14 years ago pre-owned. Had it appraised several years ago and it was worth roughly $8000. Then he turned it to me and I could see the cream color of the dial. Wow. I'd never seen one in person. It was in excellent condition. He told me how the metal reacted with the dial to turn it this color. And that he was told to never send it in to RSC or else they'd switch out the dial. It looked exactly like yours. I must say I was impressed. After he left I wished I'd taken some pictures.

Nice watches, I too thought it was only the WG surrounds that could be cream. Learn something new all the time. I have a growing addmiration for the cream 116520 at the moment!!!

To me it's the same category as the Blueberry GMT inserts, you either believe or you don't.
Whatever happened to the Blueberry controversy? I've heard nothing since the big thread. |

BB inserts and 16550/16570, reminds me of the guy who put a BB on his Polar 16570, looked quite good. In a similar vein I found the stick hands on one of my old watches to be difficult to read, so I changed them (for the hands I'd had on my 1016 until a recent upgrade!)
More common on the old Exp2 was the lume yellowing. I think the process could be accelerated, my own old one looks like someone did that to it. Nice look but I'm not sure it helps with resale. Happy Sunday everyone https://www.hqmilton.com/timepieces/...-ii-16550-5260 https://imgur.com/a/CNxOTRg |
