40 mm standard size of GMT, Daytona, Subs

Are you guys fine with the 40 mm size of these watches? ironically when I first started looking into subs, It was through internet photos, and for some reason if you judge the watch’s size by internet photos it looks much bigger than when seeing it in person. I think I’m okay with the size but certainly would not have minded a 41 or 42 mm max. Jus curious how you guys feel about the standard 40 mm size of the GMT’s, Subs, Daytona’s

I think the large lugs make up for it!

I agree. Especially the Daytona, such an advanced chronograph in such a perfect size. Any bigger and I'd be put off.

Fits me great, but I have a small wrist.

Anything between 39.9mm and 40.1mm is right in the ballpark for me.

I used to stay between 39.99mm and 40.01mm but have relaxed my standards a bit. I get more flexible with age.

Big enough for most. Too big for some. IMHO

Rolex already released what amounts to a 43mm sub. Seems unlikely that the regular sub will get any larger after that.

Moreso it seems unlikely after they release a brand new Pepsi GMT and it stayed the same 40mm. No way they’re dropping that case size any time in the near future.

I have all three and while they all wear differently, they all wear larger than you would think if you just looked at the specs. The Daytona wears particularly well though.

40mm Daytona is different than a 40mm sub (6 digit), and I like it that way. The Daytona is a little on the small side for me, but super comfy. I love the versatility of having both. But 40mm can be very different watch to watch. Rolex does it really well IMO.

40mm is a nice fit for me and my 8'' wrist. I think the six digit with the maxi case will definitely look bigger than the older five digit models.

40 makes it easy to wear 24/7 and forget about it until you need the time.

I like 40mm and think it's timeless in being the perfect balance for small/large wrists.

The new ones wear bigger than the 40mm size would suggest. I think 40mm is a fantastic size for most people. Big enough to have presence but certainly wouldn't be too big for the vast majority of men.

That being said, I rotate between a 42 and 43mm watch.

If you want a bigger Sub, then give the SD43 a look. It might be just the watch you are looking for.

40mm is great for Rolex. My Panerai is 44mm and I love wearing it, but I prefer 40mm watches for daily wear

40mm is da** near perfect! People thought it was big years ago and small now but in reality it is a timeless size that ignore's trends.

40mm is the perfect size. 36mm is too small for most men. 44mm is too big for most men. 40mm is right in the middle.

For me personally, anything from 38 to 42 is in the sweet spot.

It's the smallest watch I have and it looks it. But it looks just right to me. I rotate it with (among others) a 42mm Exp 2. I love them both and consider them to both be the right size for what they are.
