AP Diver 15703st Dial Differences
I have been fawning over the AP Diver as a replacement for my Sub I sold many years ago. I have owned a few Rolex's but never an AP for personal consumption. Like many of you who first got an AP, I am super dooper excited for an incoming 15703st!
However, after staring at listing after listing, one thing caught my eye and I am wondering if anyone can elucidate this for me. The 15703st "Audemars Piguet" text on the dial has font irregularities even between the same serial period. My question is: Is it common for font variations on AP products? The tiny WIS in me lead me down a road researching an abundance of Rolex nuances and peculiarities and now I find myself wanting to learn more about the brand I am finally getting acquainted with on a personal level. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Attached are some photos. Both come from previous listings from DavidSW. AP DIVER2.jpg AP DIVER3.jpg Close Ups: APDIVERLOGO.jpg APDIVERLOGO2.jpg As you can clearly see, one font has a curved leg "R", along with longer serifs on the "E" and "T" in "Piguet" - This font is also thinner in appearance vs the other. The other, has a straight leg "R" and shorter serifs on the "E" and "T" in "Piguet" - This font appears thicker than the other. I have also seen some dials with a variation on the internal rotating bezel. The markers are a bit narrower. |
