Time to Zaino the Rolex! Newbie ALERT!

OK, I don't want any head wagging at this as I am a newbie here and a 2008 Pledge Plus member which allows me to ask 5 stupid questions or make 5 off the wall statements per week with no retribution! And I have only asked two so far this week and it is Friday so buck up dear readers and deal with this minor deluge of insipid whimsy. :

Here goes...:

I am a member of a BMW Z3 / Z4 club locally and all of us swear by a product called Zaino. It is a 3 step polish that is superb in every respect not to mention expensive. My cost for a starter kit and a few additions was about $120.00 and worth every penny. One of the amazing aspects is its ability to take out the zillions of tiny swirl marks in paint, chrome, and other polished metals and adds a polymeric layer of protection against them coming back. It is also a finish that doesn't evaporate over time like wax will.

If this product takes out the quadrillions of tiny swirl marks in chrome and metals and adds great protection, why wouldn't it do the same on the polished links of SS or gold? Due to SS hardness it may take more elbow work, but gold should be a cinch! Keep in mind I am not talking about using the swirl remover on brushed SS although the protection portion of the Zaino process could be used.

With that said, I am going to experiment on another TT bracelet that I have and if the results are as I expect, I will move on to my YM bracelet. I do know that Zaino will not stain metals as I have tried it on both SS and even porous aluminum areas of my car with great results.

Now if this works, I am hopeful that this may be the answer to a bracelet that stays pretty much scratch free. Keep in mind guys that this is not a wax in any way, but a polymer polish that adds a layer of protections against scratches after the application.

What say you? (All insults will be taken from the source and summarily dismissed).

One problem is that the chemicals in the polish are not intended to be worn in constant contact with human skin, and I can just about guarantee you that no good would come of prolonged contact.

There are other issues as well depending on exactly what was used where.

Probably you should avoid experimenting with this altogether. The SS doesn't really need to be protected in any way that the polish could accomplish anyway.

I for one am known to abuse my day to day Rolex watches, but yet, I await the results of your experiment with relish.

Interesting experiment. I have used Zaino for about 10 years with very good results on my Corvette (Garage Queen), but I don't know that I'd use it on 18kt gold.

That being said, I'd love to see before/after pics

Honestly, I'd stick with the polishig cloths. They work well with little to no risk. Just tape up the satin areas and rub away. Start light and check your work as you go. You will be suprised how well they work.

Good points. I will only Zaino the outside of the bracelet and remove any product that works its way to the underside with the special, unique, ever powerful Zaino remover.

I am afraid it is just my nature to Zaino everything in sight that has a finish on it except fine wood products. It's the Einstein in me that drives me to the nether regions of insanity.

I just really want to see if I can get a finish on the gold that won't get the hairlines and will use another TT bracelet to experiment on before moving on to the Rollie.

I shall duly and dutifully report back here to my most esteemed WIS's! I must admit that I am quite alarmed that I haven't been most vicious flamed at this point. This does disconcert those of us who are regionally imbalanced in our thinking. However, I do know that there are those here that have no reservations explicitly communicating their deep displeasure to us newbies who come up with such experimentations. Wait, are you suggesting that I actually publicly expose my mental imballance by calling a company that I regularly do business with and asking them this question? Oh! Banish the thought! I am afeared that they would never again sell me their product thinking that I may hold them responsible for any non-intented results.

I have a friend in our club that loves Zaino so much that has intimated he has been tempted to use this incredible product on his bodily nether regions in the hopes that they would "look better". I personally think he has done it, but would never admit such as he would be in danger of being branded more of a lunatic than he already has been. This young man literally Zaino'd his vacuum cleaner, his Star Wars action figures, his computer mouse and talked his wife into Zainoing her $70.00 manicure / pedicure in hopes of making it "last longer" so that he would have more money to spend on his BMW Z4! And these are just the things we know about.

So, therefore I shall digress into my own world of subtle mis-reasoning and proceed with your blessing sans a call to Zaino HQ.

Yeah.....but, but, but, but, but, but.....the scratches come back after using the cloths. I do use the Cape Cods with great results, but the whole premise is to protect the gold from the returning scratches.

No doubt some dermatologist will dub that unusual red swelling beneath your beloved Rolex as the Zaino/Rolex Rash

Just polished one half of my my sub with Zaino and the other side with brasso. Brasso side is shinier but the other side goes faster.
