White dialled OP39
Hi all -
I have the new Pepsi on order, which I should get in the next few months hopefully. That means my Explorer 2 is likely going to get flipped, as I don't see the point of keeping 2 GMTs (especially as I have a couple of other dual time watches as well). However, I really like the white dial of the Polar Explorer 2, and want to get a replacement sports watch with a similar dial. Has anyone seen the new white OP39 in person, and can comment in how the white of this dial compares to that of the Polar Exp 2? TIA! Sent from my SM-C900F using Tapatalk |

Hopefully someone will chime in soon. My question is, why not to consider white dial DJ41 instead of OP 39? DJ41 seems more dressier than OP 39 - more diversified collection covering all kinds of situations. Both excellent choices though.

I would keep the polar...it's really different from the new pepsi.

The OP39 white is not a bright white like the Exp2. It's more toned down. Still gorgeous in my opinion. Checked it out at an AD event last week but didn't grab a picture.

What I don't have is a simple, versatile and rugged 3-hander daily wear watch - which is the slot I would like to fill here. The other candidate is the Piaget Polo S (doesn't get much love on forums, but I quite dig it). Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk |

That said, if I cannot find something that gives me a comparable white, I may keep it. Quote:

I would look in the DJ line-up. The DJ II or the DJ 41 both offer white dials and that may be the one. I would keep the Polar Explorer II as the watch wears great at 42 mm and the orange GMT hand pops. I think it would complement your new Pepsi.

I saw one two days ago and tried it on my wrist. The white looks completely different to white on the official photos! It is very bright but not as shiny, it has an almost perl like finish, which, in my eyes made it looking AWESOME!!! I liked it so much that I am now considering replacing the Rhodium dial on my own OP39 with the white one. Note though, the white OP looks very stylish and dressy, completely opposite to white Exp II. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

OP is off-white, not crisp white, which put me off a bit.

I think I may need to go look at the white OP. You are right, the white looks very nice but not "special" enough for me to break my one-per-brand rule. The other thing the Explorer 2 has is the killer combo of the white dial and the black indices. The contrast looks amazing - need to see how that holds up on the OP39. If VC releases a small Overseas with a white dial, I am so sorted.... Sent from my SM-C900F using Tapatalk |

Gotta disagree here. The proportions of the markers on the OP seem a lot better suited to its intended "versatile sports watch design". I find the smaller indices on the GS result in a dressier look that doesn't quite match the overall style, and results in something that isn't a versatile GADA watch or a "dressy sports watch" (ala the AP).

I saw the Black today, looked nice. Very nice subtle sunburst in my opinion, plus I love the fully lumed indicies. I did not try this on but it has a different look and feel to the Explorer 1 and Sub dial for what it’s worth. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm not really seeing the sense in unloading a watch you like just because it doesn't fit some preconceived order you're imposing on your collection. So what if you have two watches with a 24-hour hand? It's not like they look the same. I can't think of what you would be gaining by going with an OP39: you would be losing the GMT function, the date function, the dial legibility, the killer lume, and the Easylink. And, it's not even really a sports watch, which is what you say you want. Honestly, it seems like you want the Exp. II. My advice is to keep it.

White dialled OP39
Here's my white Daytona next to OP39
The white on the OP is of white with touch of grey too Also I found out of you go for the 36mm version there are double sick markers instead of just single sick markers on the OP39 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

But to clarify: I won't be just getting rid of the Exp2 just for any other watch - I will only get rid of it if I find another watch that I like as much or more, which ALSO happens to add variety to my collection. If I don't find anything I like as much, it stays obviously. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk |

Absolutely love the white dial! The 39mm OP has been my favorite modern Rolex since it was released in 2015, I like the proportions and the more toned down look compared to the more boxy/blingy look that Rolex has been producing lately.
The only thing holding me back from buying is the 31xx movement now that the next generation 32xx is out... |
