More good stuff from Gerald Donovan. Thanks for the link. People tend to forget that Seiko was giving the Swiss quite a hammering just before the quartz crisis with their rapidly evolving mechanical movements. If quartz had never come along, I wonder where Grand and King Seiko would have been placed in the luxury watch pantheon by now. As it is, their vintage models are real bargains compared to what you get from Switzerland for under $1,000. Even my 1970 GS 6145-8000 has only gained 2 secs over the last 4 days.
