I agree 100%.Who wants a memory of getting jacked around by an AD,paying 50% over MSRP or waiting 3+ Years for a Luxury Watch?

Ahh, the true old ambassadors of the brand, nice post! (fully agree with Alpino)

The current exploded grey market, investment-buyers-questions and nagging about the smallest dial variations does take some magic away from the coolness of the brand so perfectly portrayed in these pictures !!

“The Rolex way” now? Noooooo, back to the Rolex way things were? Yes please

Back in the day, Rolex was trying to make sales; I seriously doubt they cared about what happened after the first sale.

When the watches were being made famous there were no allocations. Rolex was actually trying to sell as many as possible imho.

They didn't need to when they were making Rolex famous. Rolex was working to make sales and not worrying about the use of the watches.

Not only didn't they wait, they probably didn't pay, either.

Probably I bit a naive but I believe these guys in their early carier wasn't brand ambassadors or so great celebrities to get their watches for free. They casually bought their Rolexes at nearest AD))

You are right, i should have written unofficial ambassadors. With the knowledge we have right now these guys do however outclass a few of the current official ones.....

I think it’s sad that people take an inventory shortage as a personal vendetta by the manufacturer.

He definitely doesn't belong in the line-up in the OP. Maybe in a different line-up though ...
