Hulk as an only Rolex?

Hello everyone,

Advice needed.

I have been a follower of this forum for some time now and i am always amazed at the pictures and advice you have given other members.

I was drawn to the luxury watch market by the mystique of Rolex. Everything about the brand “called” to me and I became attached. The watch that initially “called” to me was the Milgauss about 10 years ago.

I finally made the plunge in 2011 and purchased the Milgauss.

In 2012, when the aura of the green crystal faded I flipped it for a “classic” DJ II.

As I learned more about Rolex, I craved an “original” and flipped for an Explorer 1.

I flipped for a Daytona 116520 (and then a 116500) both white dials, but they did not “sing” to me. At that time I briefly had an LVc but flipped in order to fund something for my wife. To this day it is the only watch I regret getting rid of.

In 2016 I finally realized i wanted more of a sport model and flipped again for my current only Rolex Submariner 114060.

I was very content with being a 1 watch type of guy and wore it everyday in every situation.

About 6 months ago, I started looking outside of the Rolex world, something I never considered, and found myself being drawn to AP and PP.

I started slow by adding a AP Royal Oak 15400. Then came the AP ROC 26320 and then AP ROO diver.

I then went all in on PP and added a 5711, 5712 and finally a 5167.

I have not worn my Sub in months.

There was always 1 Rolex that I went back to, but it didn’t fit in my mind as an “1 and only watch”. The 116610LV aka Hulk. It’s the watch that every time I scroll through pictures on this forum that I stop and take a second (and third) look.

Now that I have other watches, to fill other needs, could I possibly own a green watch as my only Rolex?? It is strange to say, but now that I have looked outside of the Rolex world, I found myself only being drawn to the LVc (and maybe the Pepsi - don’t know until I see it in person). I appreciate all their other watches but would not consider owning them anymore.

Usually what I have learned from reading other long OP posts is that the answer usually lies within their question. Showing their interest and looking for validation.

What I need advice on today is, why is their a hesitancy to have a unique watch as my only from Rolex? From AP and PP I consider that I have 3 of their “classic” or “iconic” watches. Is that the same with the Hulk?

Any Rolex can be an only Rolex.

It's your choice that counts.

I will give you validation as I am in a similar position, I have AP and PPs and the LVc is my only SS Rolex, as out in the sunlight it does trump all those higher haute watches for smile-ability.

Seems to be a pattern with the Hulk.... I've bought and sold it twice. Now on my third and it's staying

A close friend of mine also sold his recently and now regrets it

Definitely okay as an only Rolex given the line up you have

You flipped through so many watches, another watch to try out won’t hurt much I Guess?

The Hulk can stand on its own. And get two Hulks if you have the opportunity.

Perfectly fine as an only Rolex or only watch.
Your hesitancy to give it another shot is likely because you've flipped it before and been through multiple other references. Go for it and don't overthink it!

The 116610LV is first and foremost a Submariner, which is as classic a Rolex as you can get. It just happens to have something extra with its amazing dial. So, if you love it, go for it.

As your only watch and by that I mean you sell off the others and only have the Green Sub? Then no, unless maybe retired in Florida or something.

Among the collection as an only Rolex? Sure.

You’ve got a great collection. The LV can easily be your one and only Rolex, IMO

I would not have a Hulk as my only Rolex. Green is just a color that doesn't work in all situations. I think many are drawn to the striking color, but down the road some of them wish they just stuck with black.

The Hulk is one of the few Rolexes I wouldn’t have as an only watch. Perfect complementary piece.

Agree with most others.... as an only watch, I’d say no. Given your collection..

I think you verbalized how I feel - there’s something about the color that elevates it.

Amazing picture.

Thanks, and though that is a nice clear capture, the colours are muted, in real life they are far more vibrant and dynamic.

You actually seem to need to determine what constitutes or defines Rolex as a brand for you if you are going to have only one and remain satisfied with it. Opinions on that subject might make what you buy a continued hold rather than a future flip.

You have 3 PPs and 3 APs, you'll be fine with just a Hulk for your Rolex.

I laugh when I read people say that a green watch is hard to match up with.

The Hulk goes with anything and everything.
