Rolex Warranty Coverage Question
Hi All -
Purchased a new Rolex BLNR in 2018 and the guarantee card was never signed and dated by the original AD (Ben Bridge Jeweler). I bought it from another watch dealer who is a friend with stickers and everything but was wondering if this watch would still be covered by the 5 year warranty even though the card is blank. If it isn't should I reach out to BBJ to see if they can sign it over to me or is it more valuable to be blank? Thanks Scott |

You will probably receive a fair amount of wrong answers to this.
There are two (correct) answers to your question. 1) Technically speaking, you do not have a warranty, as the terms of the warranty specifically state that the card must be completely filled out at the time of original purchase (in this case from Ben Bridge - see attached) 2) In reality, however, as long as the card was swiped by Ben Bridge at the original time of purchase, Rolex USA should have a note of when the warranty period started. If you ever did have an issue with a Rolex Service Center if any warranty work was required you could then reach out to Ben Bridge. What you shouldn't do, however, is fill it in with your own name and a date (which may be wrong)

Great question. I believe they're supposed to swipe the card and the information goes to Rolex HQ. When mine was purchased, Rolex AD said it's mandatory to put a name so they can activate the warranty.
In terms of value, it's worth nothing...other than one evidence that the watch itself is legit (serial matches the watch). I could careless if the name Michael Jackson is on it or blank. You should give them a call... |

You're in NYC. I'd probably pop in to the RSC there and ask them what you should do. I'd also want to be sure the watch wasn't stolen, although that's somewhat less likely if you have the actual warranty card. Kind of a tough situation.

Sounds like you have a grey market watch without a warranty (and the card just included to complete the paperwork), but it couldn't hurt to ask Rolex just in case it was swiped and left blank as a convenience to the buyer.

The watch was purchased by a friend who's a watch wholesaler, so technically the grey market. I was thinking of saying that the watch was a gift and therefore wouldn't be allowed put in my name. I hope I have no issues.

It sounds like it will just be a matter of finding out if there is a valid warranty if you ever have to send it in, within the first five years... let’s hope that never happens!

As others have stated, it's all going to come down to how it was originally sold. If the AD swiped the card and the card has the Dealer stamp on it, you should be good. Regardless of the name/date. That being said, it seems that people have been given a lot of hassle by RSC for warranty cards etc. that are not 100% kosher.
