Birth year watch

Hi all

How many of you have a birth year watch? For the last year I have been wanting one more & more. I think it would be cool to have a watch as old as myself.

Only way that would work for me is for Rolex to have been making sundials when I was born.

Actually thought about that too. There is/ was a shop in London that someone had pics of here that displayed watches based on the year made.

I don't actually have one yet, but it's a cheaper idea than a car.

Hi Matt

That shop is very expensive.

There was a Red Sub on the CM a week or so ago.

I was born in 1973, and from that time period I can think of no better watch than the orange-hand expy 2. It's my grail, a 1973 Steve McQueen. Anyone wants to pick it up for me, my birthday is just around the corner.

nothing exciting from 83 for me. no cars either, but I do have a watch and a car that are way older than me (a 20s pocket watch, and a 40 ford coupe).

its a good idea tho.

from 1983 you should look for a 16660 sea dweller with a matt dial

a matte dialed sea dweller you say? That's a great idea! why didn't I think of that? I do want a sea dweller, so that would work great. How much is one of them worth?

Thanks so much, I think I am going to pursue that one!

I am working on that....I would love a Red Sub from my birth year, however it will proabably end up being a 1675 or 5513 just based on $$$

I have a Red Sub from the year and the quarter I was born IV/1970. I love it.

This is the pic from the place where I bought the watch. Since purchasing it - I had it serviced at the Rolex Service Center - San Francisco. It came back gorgeous and running perfectly.

Great idea but in my case, difficult (or too expensive) to implement because I was born in 1960!

I'd love a 1972 1675 or 1655.

Been after one for ages and thought I had managed to track one down. Checked it over, paid but had a niggling feeling on way home.

Checking more often than was good for me, got in touch with Switzerland and they checked it out.

Case, movement and year didn't match. Soooooooooo seller was given an ultimatum.

Leave it as it is or have some funny earrings and a high voice.

Money returned so in a roundabout way

Yes I would like one and am not particularly bothered what model so long as it smiles at me and the price is right/

Any 1962's out there???

JJ. That was below the belt but

The one Rolex I have now is actually a lot older than I am. If I ever have the spare cash, I'd love to get one from 1980. A new one would come before that though.
