Need help identifying the model on this Datejust
I know this is a 1989 Datejust black stick with fluted bezel, but I don't know the model number. I think its a 16233 but all of those have the jubilee bracelet while this one has the oyster.
Anyone know? https://imgur.com/v0TqwH7 |

I don't think the bracelet option necessary dictates model/reference #. It's more so bezel/dial/metals that dictate a different number. I have a 116234 which is the same reference number for both the oyster and jubilee bracelet.

The reference number should be stamped into the case between the 12 o'clock lugs if you remove the bracelet. Here's a picture showing what that would look like.

In this case, the 162 denotes that it's a DJ. The next digit, the 3, denotes fluted bezel, and the final digit denotes stainless steel and yellow gold. For example, a 16200 would be an all stainless steel, smooth bezel (the zeros denote SS and the smooth bezel). A 16234 denotes a fluted bezel (the 3 again) and the 4 denotes stainless steel and white gold (the bezel would be the white gold portion). The reason you see more of those on jubilee than oyster is that the jubilee is far more popular on the DJ, particularly years ago. We're seeing more oyster bracelets now than in the past, but during that time period an overwhelming majority were on jubilee. That's a long winded way of saying yours is a 16233 black dial on an oyster bracelet |

Unless somebody has put on a fluted gold bezel and converted a SS model.
