Bought my First Rolex.

Hi TRF,

I've been lurking in TRF for abit and have been bitten by the rolex bug ever since my father gifted me his old Datejust.

2018 was a fantastic year for me, with me getting a promotion in my job and the birth of my first child. Hence, i decided to purchase a watch to mark the occasion and hopefully one day pass it on to my son.

Introducing yet another BLNR.

My first rolex given by my dad was a TT 36mm datejust(20mm lugs). I just swapped a leather strap onto it as the top link of the TT jubilee bracelet it came with was tarnished in the middle, which i didnt think could happen to yellow gold. I just realized that asking for a valuation is against TRF T&C, so my first post may have been deleted. However, can anyone enlighten me on the model of the watch? I was doing some research and think that it is a 16223 or 16013, but i cant be sure.

Attached are pictures :)

Bought it BNIB second hand. Paid less than a 10% premium on a 2017 model which i think was a pretty good deal considering how much price has risen. And its impossible to get one from an AD here in Singapore. Especially if you are a first time buyer.

Can anyone enlighten me if the datejust is a 16223 or 16013? Just checked the serial number and it starts with S, this means its a 1993 model if im not wrong? No lugs holes too. So this probably means its a 16223? Still a newbie when it comes to vintage models.

Congrats and welcome to the club! Nice pair you got. Sorry can’t help with the datejust. Not sure but have you checked the lugs. Normally the model number is engraved there.

Here you go. As you can see the top part is slightly tarnished. Think it was kept in a safe for too long. Not sure if this can fixed with a simple polish?
