Purchase advice: 116610lv or 116500 black dial

Hello forum members, I’d love to ask for your insight here.

Long story long, since acquiring my 116718 my 116710ln doesn’t feel as special as it once did. I have decided to acquire another SS Rolex to replace the 116710ln which I will sell after I have this new watch in hand. Only one SS and one pm for me right now.

This SS Rolex will be my go to when not wearing my 116718. I will likely swim, do yard work, work around the house, ride bikes, etc with it. Nothing crazy, but it will certainly be no safe queen. My goal is more of a daily wearer so I can save some mileage on the 116718

Originally I had been set on a hulk, but after speaking with my AD I’m starting to think a black ceramic Daytona might be a better choice.

My AD has told me that I can have access to either at msrp. Perhaps a short wait, but that’s ok. I feel very lucky to be in this position to access either. However, I cannot / will not buy both right now. Long-term, perhaps.

The Daytona has always been on my list, but I’ve never really felt a sense of urgency on it. They’re classic, always been here, always will. I do think the black ceramic version is absolutely gorgeous and it’s a bit more dressy than most sports models (subjective). The only downside is the lack of date (which I like on a daily) and it’s probanly not the best watch for swimming, although I don’t really have any concerns about it’s capabilities in that manner. Seeing how hard they are to get maybe I won’t get another chance like this again (or at least soon) and secondary market prices are prohibitive.

The hulk has that gorgeous dial. Green is my favorite color and I had a 5 digit LV long ago which I regretfully sold (although I could never get over the bracelet). The hulk has a date and the brushed bracelet is a positive given I hope to give this watch plenty of wrist time.

So, what do you think I should do here?

If you have the chance to get the black Daytona then go for it. If it doesn’t work for you, very easy to sell/trade for Sub LV. The black Daytona is pretty awesome. I wouldn’t necessarily do yard work or change my oil with it, but that’s your call.

Love the black 116500 and LV. Now best option is always both and these two go great together! If there can be only one then 116500 it is.

Of the two, get the Daytona first. Hulk next as supply and demand for Daytona is much higher.

I just wanted to thank everyone for the insight and for participating in this poll. I think my course of action is pretty clear here :-)

Go for the Daytona. If you dont like it, it's an easy flip and you can buy the LV with money left over. It's a no brainer.

For what you have described the LV is clearly the best choice. I get that people love the Daytona, but you listed reasons why the hulk is a better fit. The brushed bracelet makes it a great daily wearer, the date is important to you, and it is going to see its fair share of water. You already have a PM piece that happens to have polished center links. I say you go more casual for your SS piece.

No brainer. Get the 500.

You can always sell it and buy the LV and have enough money left over to go to Vegas.

The Daytona is not very legible to me so I would go with the sub.

Voted Daytona. Mostly because I could never have a two watch collection that are both green dials. And that Daytona is a big step up from the GMT LN.

Had the BLK 116500 for a year, and it is a special watch but as an everyday wearer, and in light of the fact that you seem to like a watch with a date, I'd say get the LV. Been wearing mine for about 6 weeks now. My BLNR and my SD43 just go round and round on my Orbita while the LV graces my wrist day in and day out.

Never thought I'd like the green so much, but it's something to behold in all the varying lighting situations. Has a jewel like quality about it.

Either way, I'm sure you'll be happy. No wrong choice here.

Daytona at mrsp all day every day. I wouldn’t let one pass if I had the chance at that price.
