16710 faded inserts

Hello everyone,
I just read this on a popular website
(fratellowatches 52MONDAYZ, WEEK #36 sorry I can't post links):

"Pepsi bezels which were supplied by Rolex in the years between let’s say 2001 and early 2002. K or Y serial numbers for the specialists amongst us. The red color of these Pepsi bezels seems to be already slightly faded when they came fresh from the factory. "

Did you ever notice that?

Thank you

Mine seems that way; very uniform fade on the red, not much at all on blue...

In general most all of the red/blue inserts fade depending on exposure to UV light and general wearing.

I purchased my K model recently and yes it has a salmon colored bezel rather than red. Gives it character.

I don’t notice this but I think it depends on the exposure of UV sun light.

Mine A serial Swiss only dial has turned pink color.

Are faded inserts worth more than fresh colored ones ? what about original inserts which were faded by sunlight and other factors ?

Mine is a Z serial from 2007, faded to salmon ,

I replaced it with a nice new one, and kept the original.

Some prefer the faded bezel, I prefer a nice shiny red/blue true Pepsi colour .

Has anyone been able to acquire new bezel from AD? One AD required that I trade the old one for the new one. I declined and am trying my local AD.

My Pepsi GMT is right in those years that the article refers too. Whether it sat in a window for awhile before it was sold or whether it's faded a bit in the dozen years I've owned, I don't know. But it's certainly not the deep red that I see on some watches here. Then again, it's not salmon either. And it may not have changed at all over the years. It doesn't get all that much outdoor wear time as I have a lot of watches I rotate.

Where on earth do all you bezel insert changers get authentic, new Rolex inserts without a service??

I purchased mine in London over 13 years ago from an AD. Had a friend ship them over with no issues. Bought some Sub inserts as well. Things have changed since then.
