Vintage Rolex 1941?
My Dad passed down this Rolex to me when I went into the Air Force. He wore it every day no matter what he was doing, changing oil, working in the garden, going to work. He was in the Army and said he bought it in the BX when he was over Seas. He broke the crystal back in the late 70's changing oil and had it replace. While replacing the crystal they cleaned the face, replaced a damaged crown stem and serviced the watch. These are the only things I can ever remember him doing to the watch. I had it serviced back in the 90's by a Certified Rolex shop. I recently had someone tell me that the face is not original because it does not say Swiss at the 6 O'clock position. I do not ever remember my Dad replacing the face. Looking at the serial #1227XX it appears to have been made around 1941. Does anyone know what model this is and if the date is correct.

It is probably from the mid- 50's
Yes, the dial has been refinished and so the writing may not be correct as to the model. On the side opposite the serial you should find the model reference; alternatively, the model number and a date stamp may be inside the case-back.
