Ever feel you are nickle and dimed to death?

Ive not once ever been offed a so called special that didn't end up costing more than advertised .....ADT sent me a flier in the mail for years before i called ...sounded great for 29.95 a month.....well not once has it cost what was advertised its more like 40.54 a month and ATT is the worse at 195 a month for cable and internet end up 223 with every tax they can think of in the universe.
Every single home service....electric, gas.....whatever has insane amount of tax they can think of .....dont get me started on cell phone ....i think it over 18 percent of some federal mandated B.S. charge they can come up with...
I added them all up and it come out to 108 bucks a month....then if you fly add hotel tax.... flight tax.....cab taxes....gasoline tax... then federal,state, property,school, MUD tax....my income shrinks by over 400 a month.....i dont even work. I was mad one day and sat down to figure out how much is taken away each month and i was shocked.

Agree 100% Greg, try asking what some of these taxes are for from suppliers and often they can’t even explain it to you.

You should take a look at how we get taxed in the UK. You'd feel much better.

Try living in France. Makes the UK feel cheap (tax wise). To me the US is like a tax haven.

As long as we stay healthy. Or don't have kids to take to child care.

Public healthcare here in France is excellent, but we certainly pay for it. As the owner of a small business I pay 42€ in social security for every 100€ I pay myself. An employee who earns around 2500€/month costs me a further 2500€ in social security. This is before we talk about income tax.

To quote an aristocratic French friend of mine.... “France is the only country on earth where Marxism has been successful”

Yes - I'm very well aware of this. Spent a few years in Europe. One of the main reasons I'm now in the US. We shall see what the future holds.

But, in the US:

* property tax
* state tax
* health insurance
* health care out of pocket
* education
* child care

It all adds up.... in the end, I don’t think there’s “that” much difference.

Personally, I think I’m better at choosing how to spend my hard earned money than any flavour of gouvernement.

I think it is a mess. I was speaking to a friend and when he got done with the cable, newspaper, Netflix's, Amazon, ect. he was out over $300 a month. He put a stop to it and consolidated some of the services. Taking a look at mine now.

I bought an office shredder at amazon for about $32. I put it in the garage so I can use it before I come in to the house. Every time I get an ADT or Cable letter I just put them in there. Best $32 I've invested in myself.

My employer is a golden example of nickel and diming to death... If I'm working late, the dinner I get from the usual take out place is $22.54 when our limit for dinner is $22.50. Whenever I put in my expense request, I always get the last $0.04 rejected, which ironically probably costs them a lot more in administrative resources to reject my request and manually review.

Thats one thing that frustrates me in the US, what you see is never what you pay. Most of the world call that false advertising, but adding taxes and fees to the advertised price is the norm in the US.

You guys ever consider using KODI + ADDONS? I ordered (6) Firesticks (one for each household T.V.) and after (5) months of procrastinating , I finally got around to "fiddling´" with them (somehow I thought the firestick fairies were going to install it for me), downloaded Kodi from TroyPoint (www.troypoint.com) and followed the simple step by step instructions.

Why TroyPoint? Well, he searches the internet for all the free apps and uploads them to his website, making it a "no-brainer". He makes these videos on how to install them in a step by step format, so the technologically challenged like "moi", can actually install them.

FIRST: If you have a Smart TV - you don´t even need the firestick , but for the cost of a FireStick, I got them anyway.

SECOND: If you don´t want to use the FireStick, there are plenty of alternatives and troypoint goes into painstaking details on which one are bliss and which ones are bluster.

THIRD: The FireStick comes with a remote control and that remote is a work of art. It is FAST.

FOURTH: I also bought a Netgear AC1900 R7000 router on sale on amazon - for like US$200.00 , best "investment" ever. When friends come over, I assign them a unique temporary password with a determined time limit.

After I installed KODI+ADDONS..........I played around with it for a couple of months, during which time I increased my internet bandwidth and lowered my Cable subscription. I was able to lower my bill around US$45.00 bones per month, which does not seem like a lot - but extrapolate that per year.

I watch what I want - when I want.
KODI + ADDONS are free of charge.

Consider yourself lucky, the first seven month in a year I work for the tax department to fund all these politicians hobbies.
Makes me sick whenever I think about it

I will happy to help you as much as possible. Just PM me.

Just an FYI for those that have hi-tech stuff but are actually low-tech guys. The first roadblock I ran into, when I downloaded KODI (Only download the Stable version - it will read something like KODI version 17.6 Stable)...........I downloaded KODI and the damn thing didn't do anything. I kept clicking and clicking on every "button" and not one movie, tv show, or song appeared or played. That is when I said to hell with this and just gave up.

Then I was reading something one day and I was able to finally understand that KODI is just a "platform", the key to content are the ADDONS. KODI does not offer , supply or link to the ADDONS.......you have to go somewhere else and download them. This is the key to getting use out of Kodi.

P.S. For the Hulu, HBO GO , Netflix , CBS , AMAZON PRIME, NFL SUNDAY PASS, UFC, (and many other monthly pay services) users, all of those "tiles" are available directly on the firestick. You plug it into your tv and you do not need to do anything beyond confirming you personal account details, so it can immediately log on and you can enjoy your content.

It's part of life - death and taxes as they say. For the sake of my hair line I try not to focus on things that I have no ability to change - such is life.

Nickel and dimed is 5 cents for a bag when you need one, or $1 for the air at a Mobil station, when you need it - at least to me anyway.

I think yours is more about reading the fine print and advertising laws.

At least in California, the station cannot charge for air if you are a paying customer....and most stations will start the air pump even if you aren't, just gotta ask.

When the vet was asked how much it would cost to clean my dogs teeth his original quote was over $400. As it turns out the actual teeth cleaning actually only cost about $120. The rest was for various items that had nothing to do with the teeth cleaning. This was purely a way to introduce me to the various other services they could perform which would lighten my wallet. I was furious and I think they got it.

I have three Maine coon cats and Vets are a huge rip-off...they know I am attached to my cats so much I would buy them food and not eat if it ever came to that.....Plus you will spend ANY amount of money on them. I learned a hard lesson back in 2000 when one of my original three cats got cancer and spent of 4k on him when he was 14 years old....and died a month later anyway.
Sometimes its best just to put them to sleep instead of watching them suffer just to keep them alive a few months. If we could just do the same with humanns.
