What to buy for my brother?
I want to buy my brother a steel sports Rolex. No requirements other than my budget is £3 - £3.5k and I would want it to be no older than 2013 ish.
What do you guys suggest and where best to buy? Thanks in advance! |

Have a look at chrono24 to get an idea for the options within your budget.

I would run it by him. They are not easy to return. If he doesn’t like what you picked, you spent a lot of money and it will sit in a drawer.

That said, the Sub is classic. The Explorer is a good all-around watch.

An Explorer 2 is your best option.... I think Subs are now too expensive

Explorer II, I, or OP are your best bets, but that's a tough price point.

I was looking in that price range not to long ago so I wish you luck. Think you're gonna be stuck in a quite used or less desirable OP, raising the budget, or changing brands.
I also second talking to your brother to see his likes. You may be better off him throwing in some cash too if possible to get you into a better budget position. Still a good gift either way you decide. |

Your options are extremely limited at that price point. You might want to take a look at some Tudors as well.

Know you want a Rolex - but when I was looking for something for my brother at similar price range, got him a new Omega Speedmaster. Was ~$3,800 from a gray dealer. He obviously likes it, and it has good looks, history, price, functions plus probably a more crowd favorite than what you’d get at your price range.

Generous and great budget for a gift, not a Rolex though at that age.

I’d go with a Speedy as others suggested. Your price point is going to limit your options considerably with Rolex.

Better off spending the money on a Tudor at that price point, imho; perhaps the new GMT. Speedy isn't really durable enough imho.

Thank you. Was thinking about a speedy. There are about a million variations of the speedy - which is the classic model to get please?

Moonwatch with hesalite crystal. The model number escapes me. As for durability, it did go to the moon and back. Mine is fine for ten years.

Tudor Heritage Black Bay is a high quality, beautiful watch. My recently purchased ETA BBR is one of my all time favorite watches. The ability to wear the watch everywhere (shower, swimming, etc.) is highly desirable in a daily watch.

Just take your time and make sure whichever model you buy - it´s a bona fide Rolex. What a thoughtful gift for your brother. Best of luck.

Tudor Pelagos at that price range would be my recommended piece.
Explorer 1 is a fantastic piece as well if you can get one at that price point as a do everything goes with anything. |

Exp1 for under £4K might be doable.
Scratch that just saw WF have a 2012 for 4.7K! |

This one is with transparent back (more expensive): 311.30.42.30.01.006 Only thing I'd say about Tudor is that limited brand awareness (compared to Rolex, Omega, etc.) is something to consider when gifting. |

At that price range your looking at a preowned rolex. I'd personally go for a brand new omega moonwatch.
