Just a Rolex bracelet? AD reason saying no
Enjoying the new 126231 Datejust TT In Everose 18ct gold/SS 36mm! Went into my AD to see if I could buy the jubilee bracelet to go along with the oyster bracelet that came with my new watch. They said they won’t just sell me the bracelet, and that Rolex requires that I send mine back to them and buy a whole new one. This means that I’d have to forefeit the value of mine, and buy a new one. Their reasoning was that people are buying fake watches and want to fit their fake cases with real bracelets, which I think is BS.
1.) is that Rolex AD bologna 2.) If it’s true, do I get a pro-rated deal for giving them mine 3.) love both bracelets, just want to add a jubilee. Can it be sourced privately? Thanks all!!

This has been the case since June 2017. You usually have to source the bracelet privately

You could try brining the watch head only in and see “what bracelets fit” your watch... maybe try a different AD if they know you where you had asked.
It’s worth a shot anyway. |

I've heard this same story from other ADs. I think it's true.

Best bet is one of the sellers in the Rolex parts/accessories sub-forum. But you better be prepared to pay the big $$. Most likely 5K or more for that bracelet.

I have been given the same story from 3 different ADs regarding a DJ41 stainless. I wanted both the oyster and the jubilee, no dice.
Ps. It is BS |

If a DJ has an oyster bracelet can a jubilee actually be fitted?

I do not think the story is BS. I have seen enough posts in forums I should not mention where members are looking to buy original parts, e.g. date wheels, to make their watches look "gen"

It is not BS. There are many people out there who take a high quality replica and put genuine crystals, bezels, date wheels (if it fits) and whatever else that they can fit. The Chinese have really wreaked havoc on the watch industry with all these damn fakes. When they were completely garbage (not that fakes are ever not) it wasn't so problematic since they just didn't look real no matter what.

So Rolex wants to steal your existing bracelet in order to sell you an overpriced new one? Is that not your answer to look elsewhere?

Rolex has always done everything possible to prevent "extra" parts from getting out. Imagine how hard it would be to detect a fake with a real dial and bezel on a real bracelet -- and those parts cost much less than a genuine Rolex would, so there's definitely money to be made by scammers.
Overall, Rolex is pretty generous in their "switching out" policies -- as long as it's an option for your model, they'll do it. Not many other brands allow that at all, or make it so easy. |

Thank you all for the input! Maybe I’ll just add another at some point or figure out a way to source privately. One member above said said something on the lines of trying to send the face in to see if they’ll fit one for it - might try that option to see if I get a bite. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised about Rolex doing this, but it’s super annoying

Yep, same story here.
I started a thread about after market bracelets on WUS and a lot of people are resident to the thought but there is no alternative. Rolex doesn't want our cash I guess. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk |

If the model was available with both options (oyster and jubilee) they will probably let you buy it, but be prepare as other said to pay top dollar for it

It has to be a $4.5-5k (if not more) bracelet for sure with the 18k rose gold which is a little bit more than yellow. The regular PCL steel Oysters are a little under $2k I believe with the Daytona bracelet being the priciest and the solid gold Oysters and Presidents are probably north of $10k going by the retail difference on leather vs. bracelet for a new DD36.

A few options I was presented at the NYC RSC for my Day-Date
The suggestion of going to a RSC makes sense as I brought in my 36mm Day-Date a few years back to the NYC RSC and asked about other strap and dial options. They presented me with a variety of options for both. For straps I had the choice of black/brown lizard or croc with a gold filled or 18K gold Rolex pin buckle. For the dials the choice was much greater. Also they were willing to allow me to keep my existing dial (the bracelet of course I would keep) if I paid an additional dial charge. Also they said that they would have to install the strap and buckle for as I could not just purchase it separately.
The prices at that time were: Trade in dial - $600.00 for a non diamond dial and $90 for new hands (required) plus a labor fee of $150. Don't recall what the price was for keeping my original dial. Strap/Buckle - Plated buckle was $66 and 18K was $825 (they looked identical). Strap was $360 for the alligator and $180 for the lizard. -andrew |

I sent a watch in (16570) with no bracelet to RSC Dallas and purchased a new bracelet for it. They gave me the option of a 78790 with end links or a 78790A with fixed end links. I told them I bought the watch head only which was true.
Maybe try that. Contact RSC Dallas and see what they say. Rolex Watch U.S.A., Inc. Dallas Service Center 2651 North Harwood, Dallas, TX 75201 Phone: (214) 871-0500 Fax: (214) 871-2767

Not BS, Rolex policy. You will need to source one. If an AD can find one for you great, but it won't come directly from Rolex.

One more thing to consider. If the watch hasn't been serviced for a while, and you send the head into the RSC, they will not replace the bracelet unless they service the watch. This just happened to me. Sent a 5 digit sub in without a bracelet and they made me service the watch even though it was running perfectly.
