Time setting clockwise & counter clockwise
I have two Rolex's a 5513 Submariner 1968 & a 114270 Explorer 2005, the Submariner you have to turn the crown clockwise (so the hands move clockwise around the dial) were as the Explorer you have to turn the crown counter clockwise,
why is this?

I never intended my first post to this forum to be a reply without a proper introduction... but your question triggered me and since no one has replied yet it didn't feel right to leave you hanging :)
Maybe this helps? I'm not allowed to share links yet, so go to the Calibercorner website and search for Crown Direction. It tells you which way the crown and hands turn for every Rolex caliber. |

Rolex has changed the direction of set several times over the years.
31xx movements lulled us into thinking that all authentic Rolex watches set in the CW direction, however, the previous generation of 30xx were the opposite. Now they have messed us up once again with the very latest 32xx movements going back to CCW...……

Basically depends on the number of gears in the setting mechanism.
