1920's Rolex Tudor ?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ayphotohosting

Here is an interesting vintage watch claimed in the title to be a 1930's Rolex Tudor and in the item description claimed as a 1920's Tudor. Notice the 1920's solid lug/pin combination.

Here is the sellers response to a question about the watch:

Thanks for your response, No the watch is not a fake it is a very early model rolex tudor watch and is signed on the movement as such. When I purchased the watch some time ago it was described as a peace from the 30's to 40's era, so I listed it as such. Thanks again

I don't know what this is, but it isn't a 1940's Tudor.

...GREAT catch Springer...

...obviously the seller does NOT care.

...let's see if we can adjust his attitude a little.

...LADY CASPER has been notified for appropriate action.

Stan.

...side bar: I wish LADY CASPER looked like "Santa's Little Helper"....Ho-Ho-Ho!

Jim, thanks for the digging, as this is quite interesting. This second Tudor that you found lists it as a 1920's Tudor also. It also reads Rolex Watch Company Ltd on the bottom of the dial. While this watch appears to be an original in poor condition, it does not appear to be a type of Tudor that would have been produced in the late 1940's. The watch I depicted, definately looks like the same watch which was restored by the current seller who also took the liberty to convert the dial to a Rolex Tudor dial - complete with the coronet.

My sources indicate that Wilsdorf established the Tudor line in 1946.

Point could be the seller is trying to get into the refinishing business on older watches and have a watch repairman who is telling him this is a 1920, 193, 149 etc (you get the picture) and this seller is taking his word. All he is doing is buying old watches to clean up.
It is VERY easy to fall into someone's opinion if you have a "walking on water" attitude towards them. Just hope they don't trip and drown in it because only one ever did that.
Just my opinion is all.

I hear ya, Jim, but then again, isn't that an excuse used by fake sellers? You know, the old, "I inherited this watch from my grandfather and I don't know anything about Rolexes" story? Not begrudging anybody the right to make a buck, but if a guy wants to get into dealing with antique timepieces he needs to be prepared to stand by his product.

Your right. I was just trying to look in the middle as usual. Figured I might give a benefit of the doubt opinion.
