On the fence GMT purchase

I have an opportunity to purchase this watch at the price of $4,000. No bracelet, box, or papers. It is a 1980s 16753. Never been serviced. Is this a good deal or should I pass?

18K/SS trying to get the photo up now

Your question is very subjective. Some people want bracelet, some people want box, some people want paper, some people thinks it's a good deal, some might think it's expensive, etc.

1. If you know it's authentic, then buy it.
2. Do your due diligence.

Personally, no, I would not spend $4K for that particular Rolex.

How much does the watch go for with the bracelet? Find out how much does a complete set go for? Subtract from it.

Buying a used watch is like buying a used car. You'll have some people who are picky about every little thing..and then you have some who doesn't care..and then you have buyer who has a lot of money..and then you have buyer looking for the best deal...or buyer who just want the watch only without the bracelet. Is there someone out there willing to pay 4K after a few year? No one will know. You might get lucky to find someone who is willing to pay for it, and then you might not. Just letting you know the reality about this hobby. I have seen watches sitting out there for 6 months to 1 year...and seen people who paid 4K or a watch and they keep lowering the price. Now, the watch is on eBay for $1300 and no one is bidding on it.

If you are hung up on resale value, then you're better off buying a complete set. Spend more money for those set as you "should" have more interested party.

Good luck....

$4k for a TT head only could be a good price, depending on the watch.

For not ever being serviced, this one looks like it has a later Luminova dial.

I have a Patek and an AP. The only Rolex I own is a 68 Daytona that was my fathers. Thank you for the "hobby advice". Really not that hard of a question

I used to have one like that on a Jubilee bracelet. Regret getting rid of that one its a sharp combination. If you get it plan on a service and budget $700-$1000 depending on its condition. One picture from the top is hard to make a judgement on that.

Down the road you are going to regret not having the original paper.

It has a service dial if that matters to you. Probably service hands too.

The ss/18k bracelet would be a few $k’s; think is better to buy a full set.

Why do people say no? I see them going from 6500-7000 USD and up for one with a bracelet. It's not difficult to source a TT bracelet for this watch.

If I got offered this in Europe for 4k/3.5k euro I would buy it instantly.

100% yes if genuine. You will pick up a bracelet for a couple of k or so.

Nice - let’s see the incoming.
