I recently purchased a pre-loved 116520 with no service history, and a faulty chrono pusher case tube. I got a great deal for it but decided to take it to RSC NY to get a complete overhaul and replace/repair parts to get it back to a fairly new condition.

I did wear the watch for a week to get a sense of how I felt with all the scratches intact and had no real issues looking at a watch that looked worn pretty much as a daily beater. That's why I am second guessing whether or not I should have the watch polished and bezel replaced by RSC. I know there are a lot of members here that condone polishes on modern Rolexes, but I'm under the impression that the 116520s will obviously be placed in the 'vintage' nomenclature eventually.

Photos show the condition of the watch prior to sending it in. I just approved of the estimate by RSC yesterday so I believe there is still time for me to cancel the bezel replacement and request no polishing. What are you guys' thoughts?

Personally I would, but I also would not mind adding my own scratches to the watch aswell

Hard to say without seeing it in person, but if it looks like the first pic, I'd polish it.

I have several more photos on instagram if you are on, under @oystersteel if you want to get a sense of how it looks. The scratches oddly are quite photogenic, but as one member has said, I would also not mind adding my own history to a blank canvas.

I'd polish it, personally. The RSC knows how to polish enough to make it look great without ruining the lines. This isn't a rare vintage watch where original condition is a big deal.

But just remember that the lugs aren't symmetrical to start with (as your pics already show). So, don't panic if you get it back and then notice that the right lugs are skinnier.

Daytona service prices were recently lowered to 850...like in the last month.

I would pass on the polish. I think it's best to polish the watch before sales so you can boost the value. If this is a daily driver I would not polish as it will attract a ton of scratches bey soon

The best thing you will do is get a bezel replacement. A new bezel on a Daytona makes it feel like a brand new watch, highly recommend it.

That is what I was thinking but I also feel the new bezel would look out of place with the remaining scratches and patina on the case/bracelet.

It is $255 to replace the bezel. Not bad since it will last longer than a single tire on my Benz.

The first photo isn't really fair to what the eye sees and I think over exaggerates the condition. Here's another photo to show the condition. But who am I kidding? By my defending the first photo, it sounds like my heart wants it unpolished lol.
