Icon9 The question for this weekend . . .

If you were given a quartz Rolex, would you wear it?

Nope, I'd sell it. The OQ is likely the best quartz money can buy, but it does nothing for me.

Not likely. And not even if it had an automatic movement. I know from somewhere that the watch first had an automatic in it (was it the shape of things to come?). I'm glad Role only used it on the Q. Call me oldfashioned, but I like the Rolex models just fine how they are know. Techinical improvements under the skin are OK though.

Myself not a lover of quartz watches except for a genuine work tool watch. But I have always liked the Rolex O/Q style case and bracelet, and would buy one with a auto movement. There were a few made, with that style case, with the auto movement, but these are quite rare.Would I wear it of course I would, and why ever not.

I'd wear it until I sold or exchanged it.

Clever and diplomatic. You could march yourself straight to a shop to exchange it, the minute you get it. So anywhere between half an hour to ......

Good question, Steven....but I would have to desist! And you know why? As much as I love the good looks of the OQ, the 36 mm size is the ONLY ONE factor that would put me off.

However, if the same OQ were served up to me on a silver platter at 40 mm....I would hang on to it....for life (?)

7½" - I don't really like anything less than 40 mm. I was even finding the Exp-II (39 mm) small. 40 mm, however, is perfect for me.

JJ, if you were thinking the ExpII was small, trying putting it on after you've had a 44mm Panerai on your wrist.

Hey, you forget that I owned a 45.5 mm PO for 3½ months....yes, that was a wee bit big for me, but I could still carry it off....and would still prefer that enormous size over a piddly 36 mm.

It may be given during a holiday or Christmas. In that case it may be a couple of days.
