You can have the dial changed at your AD or RSC as long as it´s available in the dial catalogue for this reference. So yes, black to white will work for a 116500.

AD or RSC will keep your old dial, you´re only allowed to keep it if it´s a factory diamond dial.

You can't have it changed in the US that much I can tell you. As for Spain I have no idea.

In UK there was a 1 year ownership rule before, don't know now.

They used to do it but I’ve a feeling they’ve stopped it.

I'm not sure if it's possible anywhere in the world. I would assume it was, since I know you could change out, for example, a datejust dial, as long as the dial was originally offered with the same reference number.

Anyhow, for the time, effort and money, i'd personally prefer to trade the black for a white. In fact, I did exactly that. I had to add some money. But I believe when you change a dial RSC will force you to do a movement service. The cost of the dial and service will likely clear 2k, which should be enough to trade towards the white dial.

The USA warranty card I have with my 116500 states that it's a white dial, and I was told that the serial number and warranty card are associated with the white dial and it could not be changed by the RSC.

Apparently Datejusts/Day-dates don't have the dial color on the warranty card and that's the difference?

From my understanding, at least in the US, It is not possible to do a dial swap on a SS Daytona. In addition Ive heard dial swaps are not allowed until the 5 year warranty period has expired. ymmv, Id call RSC and find out what they say.

Try and get a white dial watch from your AD for MSRP. Then sell the black dial watch for a massive profit. Solved

If you own one, ask your local RSC and tell us what they say. I'm curious to know myself.

dial change

So I have a 116500LN Black face that broke after 1yr and is at Rolex NYC right now being repaired. I called this AM and asked if they would swap out my Black face for a white one, reason being I can't read it very well, so basically can not tell what time it is. Was told they WILL NOT replace the Dial on a "professional" watch while it is still under warranty. I explained to the woman that I was told you could replace the face as long as it is currently being offered by Rolex, which it is. She said she had spoke to her supervisor and the answer is definitely no. What to believe.....

I don't think dial swaps are top of Rolex's priorities at the moment, not when getting watches into stores for people to actually buy is so hard for them.

In Spain, I was allowed to keep the platinum dial of my 116622 Yacht-Master if I was to swap it for the blue dial or any other dial available in the reference. That came from the RSC Madrid.

Given that your watch is at the RSC and you've asked and they've said no, I'd believe that over anything you read on the internet. Despite some people claiming it can be done, I've yet to see a single post on here proving that it actually happened.

The OP could cut through all this surmise and just ask his nearest RSC?

Then he could tell us the answer?

I did it in Monaco, one month after I bought the 116500 black.

I was advised that the black dial will not be returned.

It costs me 760€.

I dont think you could have the dial color changed at RSC for a specific model unless under special circumstances.

Wrong

I did it with only "I prefer it in white" as special circumstances.

I’m curious to know exactly what RSC would say.

Rokex will swap dials on DJ’s etc, that much I know for sure ... maybe the Daytona is a bit of a unicorn in this regard

I only have asked for ceramic daytona. But last year I have changed my 16570 black dial for a polar one without problems and they have returned me the black.

Hey Guys,

I have my 116500 black dial for 3 years already - any news regarding the dial swap? If it possible or not?

I actually asked Rolex UKs service centre in Kingshill this week ,It was a straight NO !. The young lady explained it is no longer a option , They have requests for dial changes on Gold Daytonas to the legendary Green version on a daily basis thats a NO as well.

She actually understood my Father has trouble seeing the hands on his Black Dial version and White may be a better option but couldn't help ,

For my 1979 DD, this past summer, I took it to RSC NY for a full service and for bezel, crystal, hands, caseback, and crown replacement. So the full monty.

I also asked them to swap the dial to white and the day and date wheels to white, as well.

They agreed. They did say I could only choose from the limited dials they had available. There were only like three or four choices. They had white, which was what I wanted.

For newer watches, or requests for premium dials, or for different watches like a Daytona, there’s bound to be unique policies.

Of course, you can always go to an independent.

Thanks. That's a bit disappointing, I thought to refresh my Daytona with a panda look.

Can't really complain
