Golf in Ireland and Northern Ireland next week

8 day Ireland trip.

Any suggestions/recommendations?

Playing the following courses:
The Island
Portrush
Portstewart
Ardglass
Royal County Down
Portmarnock

Restaurant and Whiskey store recommendations definitely appreciated.

Mostly staying in Ireland and Belfast with a one nighter in Portrush where we will be visiting the Bushmills distillery and the Harbour Bar.

When in Dublin a trip up to Johnny Foxes pub in the mountains for dinner, live music and great pints of Guinness is definitely recommended.
The European Club in Brittas Bay is beautiful on a good day and quite challenging.
You can also do a tour of Jameson's whiskey distillery in Dublin city.

Ballybuniom Golf Club is spectacular too on a good day and the K-Club and Druids Glen are nice too. That's if you have room to fit any more courses in.

Royal County Down and Portmarnock are beautiful. I'm not sure of the others but I've never seen a bad course in Ireland so I would look forward to any of them.

Temple Bar Dublin is a must to go.

Last time I was there, there was a great kebab shop called Abra Kebabra :-)

Temple Bar is a tourist trap and best avoided at all costs. Abra Kebabra is a chain of kebab joints. South Great George's Street in Dublin has some really nice bars, including the Long Hall which is an intact Victorian-era boozer with a real local clientele, great bar staff and proper Guinness.

Re Belfast, there is a really positive emerging restaurant scene with very high quality food at decent prices. Personal favourites include YuGo (Asian), Wine and Brine in Moira (a cute village about 30 mins from Belfast with really impressive food) and Mourne's Seafood Bar (my personal favourite).

In terms of bars, walk around the Cathedral Quarter and choose wherever takes your fancy - Muriel's is always worth a look.

I have a holiday home in Portstewart. The Portstewart clubhouse has a good restaurant and bar and there is another great restaurant called Manina a short distance away. There are two good bars called the Anchor and Shenanigans, both do good food.
Worth going to the Old Bushmills Distillery when in Portrush/ Portstewart. It's the oldest distillery in the world (1608). You should make consider playing Castlerock GC when there too, the Golf Union of Ireland regularly holds competitions there.
If you are going to Belfast you might consider Malone GC or Belvoir Park two of the best Parkland courses. Have fun!
