Is the Rolex ceramic bezel technique patented?
from my observation, the new ceramic bezel contribut to the crazy demand hike of the sport models. its way shinier than the aluminum bezel, highly reflective and scratch resistant.
I bought the sd43 as my second rolex and I found it even shinier than that on my sub no date. I am obsessed with it. |

Padi, I agree with you on most things but I just don't understand your strong dislike for ceramic. I have my father's late 60s Submariner and my own purchased 116710 and a 16710. Being objective, the ceramic is so much better looking and durable than the AL bezels. Durability is one of the reasons I bought into Rolex in the first place. Although I'm not real happy my 4 or five year old GMT just quit running. I would have expected it to go another couple of years before I was planning on a service. I spend very little time wearing the 16710 because the 116710 is just so much better looking and comfortable. I do wear the Sub often on days off back home. If GMT IIs eventually break the 40,000 mark I'll sell the 16710 and buy a new JKU. All the improvements to me, especially the ceramic bezel, are just so much better. To each their own.
