In your opinion, are these crown guards overly polished?
Currently looking at this Z-serial 14060M. There's a lot to like about it -- recently serviced by RSC, nice condition, price is good, etc. But these crown guards have definitely been polished (lugs still look decent, I think). Would this bother you, or am I nitpicking too much?
Thanks for the help guys, as always |

Too polished? No. But I think you can find better examples if you’re searching for perfection or close to it.

Yes, personally that would bother me. Lugs look okay but crown guards are way to polished for my liking. Perfect example of why I wouldn’t let RSC polish my watch. All of takes is one rookie. Unfortunately had a similar issue myself that was thankfully corrected by LAWW. Not much can be done there though

Yes, they are over polished. No question about it. Does it even matter is up to you.
Here is a 18yr old Bluesy. Notice how there is still a edge on the shoulders. Rikki did this one.

It's pointy, but the pre-ceramics were that way to begin with... Nobody would know the difference on the wrist.

What? No way preceramic was pointy unless we r talking about 50’s PCG. OP. Those CG r way over polished as u observed. Unless it’s really super good deal and u buy to wear, I would avoid. U would have problem unloading it in the future if u decide to flip it. I blame it on autoconnect. |

So true. I sent a 5 digit unpolished sub to the RSC for service requesting they not polish the watch. They polished it, and the guards came back looking like shark's teeth. Never again.

Once you get used to unpolished examples of the 5 digit references it’s hard to live with most of the polish jobs out there. I think the one in ops post is particularly bad in regards to the crown guards. |

Yes, over-polished for my individual preference.

Average man would not know, it would be a deal killer for me though. The Submariner's crown guards are a big part of the watch aesthetic for me.

Over polished to the extent of destroying the case, at least in my opinion. Are you sure that the price is "good", that being taken into account?

Far too polished would not go near with a barge pole stear well clear you will regreat it in the future
There are plenty to buy without going near that abomination |

Mine has a new case on it from RSC, never been polished. Use for reference.

Skip the watch. Watches are like train. If you miss one, the next one is just around the corner

For modern watches, maybe. Not for vintage though. How many have missed the train on red sub or 1675? Prices doubled in less than a year n keep going up. I blame it on autoconnect. |

I agree, over polished. I'd pass. There's plenty of Subs out there.
