What is the significance of the red marker on the Sky Dweller Dial?

On most pictures there is a single red marker at 8 o'clock but on I've seen the red mark on other hours as well so I imagine it has the ability to rotate. Since the SkyD has a date wheel and a 24 hour function in the middle, what is the function of that red marker?

And without the month indicator, ther can not be a functional Annual calendar with the watch.

In summary, the month is absolutely vital to the watch function.

So true. Particularly, I do not think anyone produces watches like Rolex. Clean, discreet and elegant.

There's been so many discussions about if you need a date function or not. Why in the heck do you need a watch to remind you what month it is ? We have the group that mock the day function on the DD for gosh sakes lol. Just a random off topic thought.

I agree that I don’t need it to tell me the month, although I do think they have done it as discretely as possible. It’s the annual calendar complication that makes it only necessary to change the date once a year (March 1). So if you are going to have a date, this is the most efficient way.

Yes, the most brilliant month indicator ever built, IMO.

12 = December
3 = March
7 = July
11 = November

And so on. Also, it only needs to be adjusted every February. For all other months, it knows if the month has 30 or 31 days.

Amazing creative implementation of this calendar complication, if you ask me : )

I think they should put it in a Date-Just: the new Month-Date? Nice and discrete annual calendar.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Again, the month indicator is vital/essential to the Annual calendar function of the watch.
Without the month indicator, it would be impossible to set the watch in order for it to function correctly as an Annual calendar.

Alternately, one could simply ignore the Annual calendar functionality or purchase a much simpler and more elegant DJ.
