Rolex 6240 or PP 5740g?

I was thinking of possibly trading/seeling my 6240 small logo Daytona for a 5740G PP Nautilus Perpetual Calendar when it comes out? Is this a crazy/stupid trade?

That is a very interesting question. Which dimension are you referring to?

- Design?
- Functionality/Complication?
- Rarity?
- Investment potential?

Very interesting! I probably would make the decision dependant of your collection Overall - if it is the only vintage piece you have, I would probably not do it... Otherwise, I would do it...

I was just thinking abt which watch would be more enjoyable as something to wear. Wish I could have both but it’s the easiest trade. Otherwise I have a 5712 and a 5726 that combined would be around what the 5740 would cost

the PP is certainly more wearable and the Daytona is at its peak

I agree with the comments above: I would keep the Daytona, sell the 5712 & 5726, buy the 5740. But hey all of these are great watches so you can't lose either way.

First of all what is the actual reason why you want to sell the Rolex 6240? is it not functioning well for you anymore ? or don't you like the model and design anymore ?

I love the 6240. I can’t affiord to drop 120k on another watch and the 6240 has exploded in value where if I sold it it would likely be an even trade or even money in my pocket. I love nautiuses as well and don’t have a PC in my collection anymore. I do ha e two newer Daytona’s as well as a 5712 and a 5726. Just not sure what to do if anything.

A 5740 you can wear anywhere...even in the water. The same for almost all of my watches but the 6240 I wouldn’t. I think all pricing is in a bubble but the vintage Daytona’s are in a league apart on that front.

The flip side is that the 6240 is the genesis of ouster Daytona’s and there are only around 1200 of them. So it’s a super tough choice.

Why not trade the two Nautilus you have for the perp calendar? Having three Nautilus doesn’t really make much sense to me if they are all modern.

That was my other thought. Those two are apt the value of the 5740. I do admit that i like the window display of the 5726 better than the 5740 layout BUT the thinner of the 5740 is a home run. The new bracelet is also killer and the weight gives it an insane wrist presence.
