Rolex Deep Sea Dweller 126660
Can anyone help, I just purchased a deep sea and from an authorized dealer and the bezel 'rocks' when you push on it, there is an auditable click. I don't mean the rachet rotation either, the dealer said that was the way its constructed, hmm not really sure?
Also, does anyone know which way the time hands turn when setting, is it like a submariner, i.e you turn the crown clockwise and the hour and minute hands move clockwise. The sea dweller is the opposite? PS no statements like I brought the wrong watch and sea dwellers are too big, it suits me. |

The up/down rocking movement in the Rotating bezel is completely normal and has been since the introduction of the Ceramic models.
The new 32XX movements in the 126660 turn the hands backwards when the Winding crown is rotated forwards, which is the opposite direction to the 31XX movement in the 116660. Also you may notice the feeling of the Automatic winding rotor spinning around inside the case with the new 32XX movement because it's now mounted on a Ball bearing. |

Mine is a almost a month old and the bezel has play in it so that it can 'rock', it doesn't click though when I push on it
Interestingly, when I was at the AD, the manager showed this feature to me, and even told me that he recommends to push down on the bezel when turning it as it's better for it...not sure if that is true or not! And yes, the new 3235 movement is anti-clockwise to turn the time forward |

Yes this watch rocks! Bezel too. Pushing down to rotate is ridiculous, how practical is that during a dive? Bezel is great! Been on two dives so far since August purchase,

You can't trace what year your DS was made you have a random serial number. Before rolex went to the random numbers you could determine approximately when the watch was made.

It’s a brand new model for 2018 isn’t it? So I suppose the manufacturing year could be 17. Is ‘17-18 close enough for you? It’s not ‘19.

The "rocking bezel" was a common 116660 question when they were first launched.

This is the first year of the introduction of the new 32XX movement in conjunction with the 126660 model. You have a random serial number and it is not specifically traceable to any particular year. |

It’s not like they made the announcement in March, went back to HQ and said ok now let’s begin the process of building this thing. Actually by Rolex’s own marketing claim it takes a year to make a watch lol. That puts some manufacturing in 2017 for sure. But again, I tend to agree with you that if there was an official birth year it is likely 2018. |

Whilst the lead time to completion of some models may well be in the order of 1 year. It can't possibly apply across all models. Some may be longer and others less. Besides there are so many metrics one can apply. Rolex marketing at it's finest In this case we are mostly only talking about a dial variation within a model anyway. It makes Rolex collecting very interesting Actually, the introduction of the polished clasp may be more significant? Historically, the watches with notable "changes" to a model line are only associated with a specific release date(Basel) along with a new model number like the 126660. |
