Polished explorer question

Hello guys,

I’m planning to buy this beautiful M serial explorer 2. Since I’m not rolex guru and it will be my first rolex i want it to be special (like all first times :D) Seller said that when they serviced the watch they did little bit polishing. My question is normal or overpolished?

Thank you, have a good day :)

I’m no expert but that doesn’t look good for me.

I would send it to RSC and get it polished and serviced. IMO that polish job is bad so hopefully they didn't mess with the movement too

Im not even getting into the "over polished" issue. Its just not polished well. Look at the lugs for starters the lines are all over the place

It wasn’t done by RSC. The dealers did it by themselves.

There are plenty of good watches out there. This is not one of them. If you are planning to buy this watch because you think the price is low, then you are making a mistake. If the price is high you are making an even bigger mistake.

In my opinion a watch that has signs of natural wear is far more desirable than one that has been butchered by incompetent polishing.

I 100% agree with you that is better to have a watch with few scratched than poorly polished

Was it polished or brushed? That polish looks horrible.

The person who ‘polished’ this watch had no real feeling of care. It almost beggars belief that this was worked on by a legit watchmaker/jeweller.

The thing is, that the person who sells this watch is a reputable seller (in Italy) who owns a watch shop and has a lot of positive feed backs from previous customers..

Lugs width still looks good but that is a terrible polish job. At least that is what it looks like in the pics. Would not be hard to fix but would instill doubt in me whether I wanted to deal with these folks.

The first few shots suggest an especially poor polish job in my opinion. Lines along the edges of the lugs are not crisp and continuous. I'd avoid this one and continue searching for other EXP II watches for sale.

That was polished? Honestly, if I did not know otherwise, would think those were the “before” pictures!

Terrible job.

The pics may be a little to focused - normal pics would be preferred for an honest opinion.

Depending on the price etc LA Watch Works can work wonders... Google them LAW

My first thought was "why would you take a green scrubby to your watch?"

It looks like a well worn watch that the Three Stooges took turns trying to polish.
